Clearly you have never been involved n any litigation or sued over something so beyond trivial you never gave it a thought until the Summons arrives. You will likely win after spending huge dollars in legal fees. The first thing taught in law school is that when you file a law suit, sue the phonebook.

yeah, the ones that bother me are at the base of the tower...i think i might remove those...no kidding lower the tower before you go under something low...good idea...

p.s. best luck i had is hair dryer to heat up the adhesive a little then peel off...usually leaves very little residue.

I removed all except Coast Guard sticker near throttle handle. To help remove the stickers, Goof Off was helpful plus I used plastic prying tools to remove stickers without marring or scratching areas

Keep all and each of them, I like their look and design and believe they add a nice touch to the boat......

Has anyone, or anyone they know, faced such fines? If so, how did it come about? I have a hard time believing lake patrol knows where stickers should be placed on every make and model on the water. I can, however, understand you may be boned if patrol wants to see the max capacity. I could also see someone suing a previous owner for removing warning and safety labels if they are somehow injured(probably through lack of common sense). I just want to know if such cases exist in real life.

I'm assuming a strong dose of humor is in play here... For example, the "Nautique Flight Control Tower" patent number adds a nice touch? Or maybe the fuel grade sticker on either side of the boat telling what kind of fuel to use?

Or that awful red, yellow and black one right across the back saying "Don't Teak Surf" in about 200 words....

So do I, because I think these stories are myths. How about if they get so faded over the years that they're illegible? Are they going to sue me for not replacing them or are they going to sue The Sun for bombarding them with UV rays for years? How about if one gets worn off from people stepping on it?

I just do not believe I would be responsible for placing each and every one of those stickers back to factory locations and conditions to avoid liability on my part. I've never, ever heard of that. I've never heard of any boat owner getting sued over that either.

You have a developed sense of humour, I see....

The fuel sticker is the cherry on the cake, the best of all

Why...Why would you call this an "Urban Myth" when now...in present times...people will sue for ANYTHING for some coin. ****...the chick falling out of the MasterCraft made ALL boat companies designate a separate label for the bow capacity. There is no "Myth" to this when there are actually people out there that will say "Well....there wasn't a sticker saying I shouldn't hold on to the prop"....you may laugh...which I am doing right now....but it will happen. Maybe not to one of us...but you never know....

I am in the medical field, it happens, believe me. When someone is injured and has large medical bills, they sometimes sue their best friend. 'I didn't know that putting my face 16 inches from a running boat exhaust could kill him' suddenly doesn't seem like such a dumb statement when a woman recounts how she lost her son to the jury. Ask Calabria, they got sued for several million for it. Think McDonald's hot coffee lawsuit.

I don't like it and don't live in much fear of it, but it does happen. I will remove my stickers when I get around to it.

Nothing in what you just said substantiated the position: If you (as a boatowner) remove the warning stickers and sell the boat then you can be held liable if the next owner gets hurt.

All you're doing here is repeating general lawsuit rhetoric.

WD-40 is an excellent solvent for this. It isn't as harsh as Goof Off.

                                Ok, Charles-

This weekend, I'm going after this one-my last one. I think I'll warm it up a good bit with a hair dryer. I sure hope no windshield paint comes with it; I'd be crushed... That said, this one does drive me crazy. All I'll have left are the capacity one, and one other by the driver seat... I'll leave them alone. My boat sure does look clean without all of these stickers...
