What would a good price be on a 2007 Nautique 236. Has a bimini, trailer, 520 hours, appears clean in photos. It is coming up for sale at the end of the season. They are asking $43,500. My wife is a cpa and I am having a hard time getting her to see how even though Nautiques are more upfront they hold their value much better than other brands. I was thinking 39.9k range so it sounds better being under 40. Am I dreaming here? We like to pay cash normally for toys so a G is out of the question at this point. Thanks.

This was the first year for the 236/230 hull. I have a 2008 230 and like it. This 2007 looks to have an upgraded trailer (pics are tiny), and a good cover. It has the basic carpet and the sano pad. IMO Sea Deck is a must in these. I had a sano pad on previous boats and it was so bad at one point that it was dried and cracked and actually made a guest bleed by pinching her when she sat on the platform. (it had started to curl and crack). Hours are decent and as long as it was well maintained you shouldn't have issues. Still a lot to see to determine a good value... That said, I would not pay more than 40K for this boat. it is 11 years old, and you will most likely have some money in upgrades you'd want to do... But, I bought the 2008 230 I have (high hours) and put a NSS style system, plumbed in ballast and custom underwater lights (it already had SeaDek) and now I have a nice wave and wake for a fraction of what the new boats cost... Oh, and I like gauges, I am not a fan of the 'all in one' screens - just not my cup-o-tea... Good luck !

That is the smaller engine -- 5.7L 330 HP
That isn't necessarily a bad engine (it is actually a great engine), it just isn't the upgraded 6.0L 375HP engine that was offered (and was common on that boat) that year.
Looks like it may be missing one of the lean-backs as well. It should have one on the port side like the one on the starboard side.
If you want to check out what they looked like when they left the factory, here's my old listing for my 236 that I had in 2007. It may be a good reference to find things missing from the one you're looking at.

I also found a 2008 236 a couple of hours away. It is the brown and white colors with 400 hours. It also has fresh air exhaust, sea deck, 2 new Rev 410 Wet Sounds and new amp. It has the 5.7L engine. I just need to get my wife onboard......literally and figuratively speaking. With 4 kids I think I need something bigger than a 210. I am going to get a Nautique, just a matter of when.

I have a 2007 236 team edition that I bought in spring of 2016 for $50k. Mine has the 6 liter engine, stock ballast, tower speakers, heater, bow filler cushion, spare prop, rear facing jump seat, same trailer and wheels as yours, 400 hours, and was maintained really well. It also came with the storage cover and a custom travel cover.
I'm an accountant so I get the whole upfront cost thoughts. I also have 6 kids from 12 to 4 who all love to go boating. My two older kids are wake boarding and surfing and my middle kids kneeboard and are trying out skiing. My youngest ride in the boat all day. The only complaint from them is that we don't go more. It's the best summer family activity.
Nautiques are the best built boats so buy the right boat the first time.
If you need a spreadsheet to help convince her, let me know. Sometime that's all us nerds need. That and a nice pie chart.

I like that black/green 2007. Great boat and the same as a 2008-2013 230. Engine will work if you don't put a lot extra weight in it. I think the price of 43k is already pretty good if the boat is complete (bow cushion, rear cushion, air dam, etc) and the condition of the boat is good.
Love the 236 as family boat, safe and practical boat for kids.

If you get the Excalibur in a 230/236, make sure to get at least an Acme 1235 prop on it. If you like to wakeboard with extra weight, get some weight up front so it will plane. The '07 still has Perfect Pass, in '08 CC went to Zero Off. I prefer ZO, but the PP works ok too. 236 has a more simple interior vinyl design, which might actually last longer due to less panels on the seats, but in my opinion, the 230 interiors look "nicer."2008 230 TE-ZR6
