Sell it quick price for 2018 G23?

What I'm saying here strictly applies to wakeboarding...

If you plan to run the boat at full capacity: 100% stock + 2500 lbs (either people or ballast or lead) + a full tank of gas, I've found that 450 struggles a bit. If you want to go further beyond that, the 450 won't push it. The older 550's (without the 2:1 tranny) still are able to push about 1k more than the 450 w/ 2:1 transmission. I think the 450 is plenty for 95% of the owners.

I have a friend who lives on the lake who traded in his 2016 G23 with the 450, for a 2017 with the 550...he also wakeboards.

If you like the wake at lower weights than described above, the 550 is major overkill.

Surfing, I think any engine would suffice.

I agree with this. You could always prop down a 450 and run higher RPM's which would probably get you on plane OK while wakeboarding and extra ballast, but I don't think many have run anything besides the 17 X 17 prop. I have a 17 X 16.5 as my backup, and thankfully have never used it.

Keep in mind, for surfing, the 450 can handle a lot of weight over stock and be just fine. It is in getting from 14-18 MPH that the true test of power comes in.

Guys, Iron here is being humble and knows as much more it than anyone on here what a 450 can do and what a 550 can do. The guy is a very advanced 24mph+ wakeborder and pushes it to the absolute limit.

If you spend time on an XR550, you'll see why we love them. For me, it's 2800-2900rpm surfing at 11.8 with near 5000lbs ballast. You aren't getting that on a 450 without completely giving up any decent 23-24mph heavy wake performance.
