    Surfing and experience

    Guys and gals ,
Read the forum daily and keep seeing posts about surf waves and not enough push etc...

I'm not a professional surfer but I really feel board and user are a huge contributor to surfing .

We surfed an 03 210 with two fat sacs on one side before the craze started.

Clean waves make a big difference as well as chop. If your surfing in ocean like water for the first time chances are it will be difficult .

Started with a cwb cheap board and moved to an inland surfer sweet spot . Once we had sweet spot I started to catch wave so much faster but once I got better I found that it was so much faster I had to lean back or put weight on back leg a lot. So I moved to inland surfer black pearl skim board. Still is very fast.

All I can say is practice . It takes patience . It's like riding a bike. Once you get a feel for it your good.

Lean into wave and speed up by leaning forward and slow by leaning back(pressure on back leg). But remember to lean into the wave (towards the wave)

Absolutely agree. Having been in the business, people are trying to buy surf waves instead of boats. The reality is they just need to get better at surfing or try a different board because most boats can create a good enough wave.

It is pretty funny, some people just need a new board and a lesson(self included)not nessicarly a new boat. I see people all day every day that struggle to go rope less with the latest boats. It is all about just more time on the water, maybe some better physical conditioning and watching some tips.

Couldn't agree more. The boat is only 1 factor. The Board and the Person are just as important. Look at the thread where people are surfing 15 year old direct drives!! That's impressive! I'll never forget the first time I saw NSS engaged. It looked like a Tsunami!!! I look forward to the day my boat has NSS. But until then I will continue to enjoy my OG210.

I learned behind a demo boat (I think a G21) and fell in love. I bought 3 new sacs, an extra pump,a shaper, and started demoing boards. My boat was an 04 Malibu VLX. I could totally surf behind it, BUT... it took so long to fill sacs and swap sides with the shaper for my goofy friends (pun intended). When you wanna hit that morning glass, are the first person on the water, then spend 30 mins dialing everything in and watching boats trickle in,... Feels bad. I agree that you don't need a new boat, but you better be willing to spend some time and money on what you have now if you wanna make it work,... at least I had to. BUT, boards are getting much better. Demoed my model board but a year newer, and it was uncomfortably quick.

What's the best board for a large person? I'm 6'5 300 lbs and surfing a moderately weighted 211. My 15 yo daughter can surf it fine, I feel no push. We are currently surfing a board I made so I know it's not ideal but I'm just wondering if there's even a board for someone my size with minimal skill sets

hyperlite landlock comes to mind, larger person needs a bigger more buoyant board, especially with minimal skill set. Demo first if you can, that's one thing I love about our local board shop they have lots of boards to demo first. They are to expensive to buy blind so try a buddy's or demo first if at all possible. I think boardstop has a return policy if you don't like the board you purchased. Which is nice

Try a sweet spot inland surfer. They are thick and buoyant. I've got 260 pound friends surfing on it many times . Just remember to lean into the wave . If needed move your feet closer towards the wave so you cut into it creating push .

If you want a board you can progress with, a Doomswell Nubstep in a 5-0 or 5-2 would be a great board that would allow you to evolve and try a bunch of different things. Give Brock at Doomswell a call and he can get you set up with the board and size you need.

Does anyone know if Inland Surfer is going to be making boards moving forward?

This post is exactly why I bought a G21. Surfing has never been easier or more fun with this boat. No bags, no steel plates, push the button and your goofy friends are good to go. Board and skill do play a factor but you won't find an easier and fun boat then the G Series

My 2c on wakesurf boards. I demoed 5 diff boards (2016s) behind my 2004 Malibu VLX (w/ shaper & weighted). The only boards I tested were Ronix & Hyperlite because that's what my local dealership has. I usually tested two at a time. My favorites were Hyperlite - Time Machine & Ronix - Blender. I felt the time machine was super floaty and was a great board to cruise with. The Ronix less so, but still had great surface area for its size and was much more responsive (even faster for 2017). I went with the Blender. 5'11" 185 lbs

Spot on lucky7t Back in the 80's, we surfed a Prostar 190 on a Skurfer with 3 bodies and a few cinder blocks in the back of the boat (wake surfing is older than most people realize). It was difficult, the wake was still small, and the Skurfer was a joke by today's standards, but we did it.

I'll agree with all the above
Wakesurfing has been around for awhile that's for sure, remember the centurion wave in the early 90's
I think that was the first Wakesurf specific hull made and that was early 90's
