Sorry team cringing as I'm writing this

Well I hope we can all still be friends, but after 11 Nautiques I decided to go with a Malibu 23 lsv. I only used it a couple hours last weekend and might post a full unbiased comparison soon. First thoughts is a really nice boat but who doesn't like a new toy at first. After a couple weeks of using I will understand the true performance.

That said aid if you are looking for a almost new 2012 210 team with 42 hours check the smith boys website.

Any particular reason for the change? What did you like more about the BU?

Which years are we talking about? A 2012 210 is a whole different kind of beast than an LSV. Even bigger difference if the LSV is a late model.

Wow, that's a big change, best of luck with the new toy. I've been in a few Malibus and spend a lot of time with a friend's VTX. Not my cup of tea, but to each his own.
I was just in your neck of the woods, well next door in Corning. We visited the area last summer and really enjoyed it! You know there's a Nautique dealer up in Canadaigua? :-)

Let us know how you like it compared to the nautique when u get a chance. If you got a 2018 LSV I have heard nothing but good things about that boat, it must be pretty nice.

I knew I would get a couple pokes on here. It is a left over 2016 23 lsv. Yes the 2018 23 lsv is amazing but not sure there is enough changes from mine. Let you know in a couple weeks when dealer gets one.

I need to use the boat more before I do a compare. I will try to leave out wake info because a 210 to 23 isn't apples to apples. That sai I Roden in enough 230 and g23. So I will compare those a bit.

So why the change. First G23 - love the boat and performance. But I'm old school and never loved the square bow. I could have gotten past the bow but then came the price. I never have issues paying price for anything but 140k was becoming a tough pill. I paid 80k for my 2012 210 and put 42 hours. We had a child so on us for the low hours.

230 love the boat but guessing it is 2 years away for not existing. At the end of the day it is a stretched 210 but the wake is a bit more washed out. Also lower freeboard so it will never be the surf boat we want.

All we seem to be doing is surfing lately. Surf gate wow. If I was a boarder hands down the Nautique is better. I haven't boarded the bu but looking at the wake. Every vertical and peaky. Lots of riders like that vertical wake but....

Not it going down the gs path.

Second is the dealer network Nautique currently has. I move every couple years so I need a dealer network. When certain folks worked for cc I could call the factory and get parts warranty stuff etc. since many have retired and cc says go to dealer. I get that is the process but when I pull into a new town I get the cold shoulder because I didn't by a boat from them. Many of you live close to excellent dealers. When I lived in ct I supported mccallen boat house in NH and not the dealer 45 minutes away. Three bad experiences there not spending 80k with them.
the finger lakes dealer has an amazing service department. They winterized and stored my boat last year. They over exceed my expectations. That said when wife daughter and I dropped off for winterized we looked at a 2016 g23 and a 230 that was in the water. We weren't crazy on the 23 colors but liked them enough to buy the boat. I was told I wouldn't be happy with the trade value being it only had 38 hours. I said let's look at the numbers anyway. Still waiting on a call back. I called the same person in the spring. AllI said is give me a call on vm. Still waiting. I not begging to buy a boat.

I have to admit the malibu salesperson had to warm up to me a bit. Not sure he thought I was serious. During a demo day he told me I couldn't demo a boat because he a interested family in buying a boat. He thought since I had 11 nautiques I would change. Wow do he learn a lesson. Hahah. I'm the only one who bought from that day. Hahah. It's is a joke now. Chris potter is a great guy. Smith boys seems to be good too. All my communicatio has been with Chris. He worked it hard. Also I helped him with a friend into mine. Trying to sale his now.

im not one of those that is going to say malibu is the end all. Their not. But I would challenge everyone to shop some before buying their next boat. Not bashing Nautique but others have done some catching up over the last 10 years. I'm not going to burn the 53 shirts I have either. I counted them. Nautique is an amazing boat and company. They build great boats for great customers. And I still consider myself a Nautique customers. Who knows one returned call and this never happens.

If I was a betting person there will be another Nautique direct drive in my driveway in the next 2 years. Now that we have a place on/close to the water boating is more enjoyable now. We went through 5 years of trailering.

Sorry typed this this on phone spelling grammar errors

There can't be much freeboard difference between a 230 and a 23lsv. I'd love to see a pic that shows that. The 2018 is a different story. Much more freeboard on the LSV.

And the 230 is a heavier boat. I doubt one is a much better surf boat than the other. But to suggest the 230 would never be the surf boat that a 23lsv is crazy.

                      But okay....

The dealer issues are important. I get that.

But carpet....c'mon, the carpet looks so 2008....

You beat me to it. The 230 is an AWESOME surf boat with PLENTY of freeboard. I've never taken one over the bow and we run HEAVY. Crad, enjoy the mashed potato setter. You'll have to get used to riding a roller instead of a wave with an actual lip. That said, I'm sure you got a good deal on a closeout or used model. Rest assured, you'll be back from the dark side before you know it. We'll consider this a "cloudy time" for you when you went off the reservation and welcome you when you return to your senses. LOL Enjoy the new boat. Malibu though??? What about Supra? That's where I'd be looking if Nautique starts going sideways any more than they have.
