    Surfing wake on 2001 SAN

Any tips on how to get a surfable wave out of a SAN 210 style? I am running stock ballasts with 400lb Sky High V-drive fat sacs siting on top. No weight in mid or front unless people are weighing it down. The wave is mushy at 9-10 mph and washes out, cant quite let go of the rope without dropping back. Thanks.

Shift some weight farther forward and you should get a cleaner wake. It's the unspoken secret.
    How about \"Chales\"?

Have you tried weighting the other side? Your SAN will produce a much cleaner wake on the starboard side due to its RH prop rotation.

Same as DRAGON88 mentioned, front weight helps too.

I took my 97 supersport out which has the same hull and prop rotation this weekend. It was the first time I had try to surf with it in a while.

I surfed the port side and had it weighted like this.

Rear Locker- 750lb fatsac probably filled to about 650lbs then 80lbs of lead on top of it.
Under rear port side seat 80 lead, 80 more in lead on floor

Front weight- ski locker 600lbs plus 200 in lead all the way up in the nose.

The wake was really good for surfing. I was using a skim board and had no problem riding without the rope. I could ride pretty much as far as I wanted without falling. I would have like the curl a little farther back, it seemed like I was a little close to the boat, if I did fall back it was hard to pump back up. Overall I was happy with it. My old boat had a sweet surf wake and I remember after this weekend how much I love to surf.

I have a 2001 SAN just like yours and we can surf with no problems on the port side. I usually run port ballast full with a 400lb sac on top of the stock port ballast. Then one more 400lb sac aft of the observers seat on the port side. Then any people will be a bonus. Try to get the water to at least touch the rub rail. Drive straight or a slight left hand turn also helps.

Thanks for the tips, it sounds like I need to get some weight up front to keep more boat in the water. Too much weight inthe rear without counterweight doesn't work well for a surf wave.
