    Retrofitting 2018 Equipment

    Two questions:

    1. Do we have an approximate price yet to retro fit the new JL Audio head unit and transom remote? Software ready?
(The issues with the Polk head unit are driving me crazy, and my boat is only a month and a half old)
    2. How much for the "overmolded" black strapless board racks?

Hopefully, someone knows the answers to these questions. Thanks.

Since you are interested, maybe a dealer could also provide some prices, and you can provide the data to the forum..

I have a call into our dealer to do just that. I'm just impatient, and was trying to see if someone beat me to it...

Yup! I'm with y'all!! Polk has gotta go! Not sure if JL is the right option or not but Polk sure isn't it. I wonder if there are any other options that work w Link?

you can buy JL media masters since Jan of 16. nautique just started recently installing them in the new boats. great head unit, i had one in my 236. you probably only need the NMEA connector or harness that Nauti uses to connect the M100s to the linc system

I think there's more to it than that. The LINC in a 2017 will be programmed for a Polk PA4A, not the JLAudio. I'm pretty sure the LINC will need to be flashed to "talk" to the new head unit.

I'd agree. I would be very surprised if this was plug and play.

I think its like steering wheel controls on a car. tons of companies know exactly how the head unit and steering wheel controls talk to each other. all these head units have receptacles for wired remotes. i'm betting the linc is just sending singals just like the wired remote would, from the screen. i've haven't been on an '18 yet, but i will check my buddies '17 G25 to see how his polk and linc are set up.

For y'alls sake, i hope i'm right. lol.

                  ^ That is sorta right.......

Except the wiring is different, as well as the connectors. The JL unit won't just plug in where the Polk unit did. Even if it did, they are speaking different languages, and would not work at all. The Linc software needs to be updated to communicate with the JL unit, and there will be a harness pigtail to install behind the Linc.

With that said...... the JL unit uses the standardized NMEA connections, and communication. So any other HU that is NMEA 2000 compatible would plug in and operate like the JL unit. For instance, if you wanted to use a Fusion HU, instead of the JL, it should work perfectly fine. The Polk unit, however, is not NMEA 2000 compatible.

The ones for 2018 are black; I'm trying to find out if they are just colored black, or are made of a polymer (like a Glock). The link you have attached here is for the strapless racks used in 2017.

Ah I see what you're saying now. I probably never would have noticed until you pointed that out! Haha

Now I want to know also...looks like they did remove that inner pad and changed materials
