I like the 210, but

Hello everybody, I have been testing newer boats and I love the wake the 210 produces; however, my wife doesn't like the size and verticalness of the wake. Is their anything that could be done to the 210 such as adding a wakeplate or something else that would make it a little more versatile for skiing and wakeboarding at slower speeds without affecting the wake when I want to board.

BKH is right... The general rule is more weight = more wake, weight is easier to add than take away. You might look into a 220?

just run it with no ballast, not even stock, that should make it more tame

Unfortunately the 220 is out of my price range, however I have looked at the 211 and really like this boat. I wakeboarded behind this boat with all stock ballast full and the wake was not the same as the 210. Do you guys think the 211 could produce a similar wake if it was weighted correctly.

Not and expert, but I would say no. The 210 is a unique boat. It has a very steep wake which propels riders vertically like no other I know of. The 211 is also great, but is probably more like the wake you would see on the top of the line wakeboard boats from other manufacturers. More of a ramp shape. From my perspective, you've got a family. Do what make the whole family happy. Unless you're world class, the wake isn't going to make that much difference anyway, and you'll get used to what you have. Just my $.02. BKH

In a 210, just as in any other boat, if you add weight to the front it will make the wake less steep and wide.

Tell your dealer your problem and ask him to take out a 210 and put a 400lb sac in the front... see if your wife lifes the wake then.

Cant give up on the 210 just yet.

agreed....you don't even need the 400# sack...just try pumping out 1/2-3/4 of both back tanks and the wake will mellow out. Weighting is key and the 210 responds quickly to small amounts of weight (ie. move your buddy from one side of the boat to the other and watch the wake.) Trust me, you can make a mellow wake out of the 210 hull for your wife...if you like the steepness for yourself then stick to your guns and grab that 210.

Also, look at the track record of the current hull design. It's been around for 10+ years and people still love it. You also might try teaching your wife the difference and how to adapt. It took my pops a while to adjust, but now he's hooked and loves the 210 more than all other boats.

I might offer a different opinion. The "unique" aspect of the 210 wake is it's steepness. All you need to do to make a wake steeper is move the center of gravity toward the rear. Over the weekend I boarded behind my boat for the first time after adding 130lbs of golf cart batteries in the back. I immediately noticed that is was noticable steeper than it was last year. I would suspect that 150lbs of lead in each rear corner of the 211 will get you pretty close to a 210 wake. The other benefit of the 211 wake is the lack of trough if you overshoot the wake. One pro that I have had out on my 211 prefers the 211 for this reason, it's harder to get hurt as he puts it.

Try the 211 again, only fill the belly tank to 1/2 and move all your passengers as far back as possible, you might be surprised. The hull is quite sensitive to minor changes.

Go for the 210 and run it without any ballast for your wife. Weighting the back definately makes the wake steeper and weight in the front reduces the steepness. One thing is for sure though, as soon as the wife gets used to it she will maybe thank you long term. Tough decision - good luck...

If you or your wife are truly good slalom skiers and that is your primary passion, you should really go with a 216...you will probably not be happy long term with the 210.

On the other hand, if wakeboarding is your primary sport and you only ski recreationaly, the 210 is certainly the way to go. With ballast empty and with some people weight up front, I'm guessing the 210 ski wake is still better than most I/O's.

If the only concern is wake size...just note that very few boats....save a 196 and such, will produce a small wake at slow speeds.

211 best of both worlds......Plus the walk though is such a nice feature...I don't think it gets enough mention on these boards...I love not having everyone walk all over the Vinyl when they are getting in and out of the boat...

Wakeboarding is my passion and I would say that I probably only ski 5% of the time. I'm just trying to make everyone happy. I really want to ride a 211 with additional weight in back. If it helps make the wake larger and steeper than I'm pretty sure I know which boat is right for me.
