Graphics question, side decal on G23.

This weekend we tied up with another boat. Because of all the surf waves on the lake, the boats rubbed up against each other. The other boat scratched my gelcoat where the decal is above the rub rail on my 2016 G 23.

Could I easily replace just that decal on the starboard side of my boat? Can I just buy that one decal or do I need to purchase the decal for that entire side?

Will the new decal, going over the scratch, nicely hide the scratch? Or will the decal be misshapen because of the slight gouge?

Also, is it easy to remove the existing decal and install the new one in its place over the scratch?

Your dealer can easily replace just the section above the run rail and make it look perfect. Cost is up to your dealer. Mine had pieces of graphics they would part out in cases like this so you didn't have to pay for the entire thing.

That said, get you some Exile Audio buoy balls so this doesn't happen again. $20 each and will keep any boat off your without a mark.

It may be difficult to find a dealer that has portions of the graphic available.

In my experience (when I had someone remove part of the decal to do a gelcoat repair after I specifically told him not to), I found that not only did I have to purchase the entire decal, but that they are only sold in sets of TWO (one for each side), and the cost was over $1,000. FYI, the gelcoat repair was a small <$200 repair, so the graphic cost would have been FIVE TIMES the cost of the gelcoat repair, not including installation.

I was able to get around this by obtaining a partial piece from someone else, but I consider myself very lucky to have found that.
