The wood and carpet steps on my trailer are getting old, I would like to replace them with something besides wood, or diamond plate....can anyone recommend another material that does not need to be carpeted, maybe something synthetic. Thanks

I ordered steel side steps when I purchased my SN for the very reason that I wouldn't have to replace the wood in years to come. One option is to permanently weld steel (not diamond plate) and paint to match the trailer. Not as visually pleasing as the teak (which is very nice) but it is maintenance free and looks clean. Just have to remember to throw a towel down on those really hot summer days

i def. like that teak alot, the steel or diamond plate u normally see looks good on those but that really gives it just a little something extra. Nicely Done

Im going to go look at some of the Ipe DavidF mentions. The teak was about $500 in materials and he said about 16 hours. First one always takes the longest. It is built exactly like a platform. This is a pretty unique improvement and IMO will hold its value if there is ever a "next owner".

Wow, I really like the teak as well. I replaced my steps this winter. I don't have a picture but will get one next time I'm out.
I decided the carpet just held too much water (Which was conducive to the boards rotting and the metal rusting). I didn't want to spend the money to have the diamond plate put on so I bought treated plywood (Like what was originally covered with carpet) and then covered it top and bottom with roll on truck bed liner. I've actually had one person look at it and assume I had used starboard. If you want a true synthetic material then starboard is a polymer material used often in boats that you can buy in several sizes. It's just pretty expensive.97 Ski Nautique 196
