Boat theft is pretty rare actually. Stealing stuff out of your boat still rare but less so. I'm on a lift all summer so unless someone has a trailer outright theft is really going to be hard to accomplish.
All the simple, stupid stuff applies in deterring theft. Don't leave gear in the boat, don't leave it in unsecured areas and lock your trailer. Nothing will stop someone from stealing something if they want it bad enough. The idea is to always make getting yours a PITA or at least harder than someone else's. You don't have to outrun the bear, just run faster than the other people your with.....
