New owner here, and I have questions

Hey guys looking for some answers to some questions.
    I just bought a 78 Ski Nautique 351w

I want to replace the hood scoop on the bow. Can anyone refer me to a site to get one. This one is in pretty bad shape.

How about replacing the old stickers on the back corner of each side??

What is approx value of this boat in decent shape with 800 hours. I also have the ( whats been refered to as the batman trailer ) fiberglass trailer in decent shape.

    Thanks for any info!

Excuse my lack of knowledge of these boats I always wanted one when I was younger and my neighbor just sold me his for what I know is a good deal. Im 26 now so its my first SN. Ive been told it will actually make a pretty good boarding boat. Any opions on that?

    Thanks
    Joe

    Hey Joe,

Welcome. In 78, I believe that hood scoop was upholstered with vinyl that matched the seats. You should be able to remove it (probably has screws under the bow, and reapply vinyl to match the seats. Old stickers may be harder to come by. You might check correctcraftfan.com. There are a lot of folks there who restore older correct crafts.

Post a pic of your boat and enjoy. BKH

The hood scoop is vinyl covered but the plastic has been craked and broken in some spots. That is why I am looking for replacement.

Thanks for the help on the stickers

RE: Re: RE: New owner here, and I have questions

I've got a '78 as well i restored 2 winter's ago, as for the scoop goes, we just used eopxy mixed with microfibers filled in any cracks & than faired it all out, then we just painted it, b/c i really didn't want to have to deal with the scoop vinyl becoming faded & dry rotted (i didn't have a lift with a canopy @ the time). As for the decals go, i ordered the CC since 1925 & the USA flag from white Lake, the AWSA one i believe i found @ Midwest CC. As for the wake, when i first got the boat it was completely ragged & we bought i for 2000.00 @ a garage sale, it had a depth finder on the dash & a reinforcement on the swim platform,,the guys used it to fish on Lake Erie. so when i first got it i bought the Sky Ski Fat Seat i believe it's called, & pretty much filled it,,, that's about 1500lbs full,im gonna hope we didnt have that much in & it was only around like 12-1300lbs, anywho the platform was about 3-5 in. below the water & it kicked a HUGE!!! Wake, tougher to handle but huge nonetheless. Since the Resto i havent really weighted it much mostly because i dont feel like dealing with filling & emptying the sac, but with these boats they're very narrow & don't take much to sink em a bit to get a decent wake (2-3 people including driver) Also if your just starting wakeboarding this boat will make u feel like a stud cuz you'll be doing Wake to Wakes very quickly because of the narrow Hull. Great boat & welcome to the site (Sorry for the long post, just got a bit excited about another '78 on here)
          My \'78 SN

the best place to get the stickers is Mid-West Correct Craft you can get all three stickers and if you want to re-do tramson graphics there's a shop that already has them and it's almost identicaly to the orginal painted graphics. Let me know and I'll get the info if you need the transom done.
