Google "Mastercraft CSX". Pretty cool line of center consoles back on the 2000's on the x series hull.

That's the CSX line. Not modified. Straight from the factory. They had several lengths. The one in my image is a 26'5'. The insta link is a smaller model.

Here's a vid of the 26.5' showing board racks on top of the t-top.

What would ever give anyone the crazy idea that a coastal/salt water series, 20 some odd foot inboard could be used in the ocean?

You should google the MC 300 yacht. Those were really cool!

I can take my truck into remote areas as well by myself without spares and backup plans but that doesnÂ’t mean itÂ’s not at my own risk. Just because your equipment can do something shouldnÂ’t be waiver for common sense and sound contingency planning.

Better example - a snowmobile is designed to go deep deep into the back country and be somewhat reliable at the same time. But to do that by yourself without tools, spare parts, reliable communication, first aid gear, etc, is just begging for trouble. At least Rex had reliable communication, which may have saved his life. But to rely on a single contingency measure is again, begging for trouble. All mechanical equipment can fail. Never ever put yourself in a situation where you’re relying on only one (or even worse, none) contingency plans where your life is the potential consequence.

I’m not at all saying nautique doesn’t have a role in this but like in most severe situations, there is usually more than one party who has a role to play in the outcome. This happens anywhere else other than open ocean, and none of us probably ever hear of it.

I’m also curious why he didn’t call for a chopper to air lift him out if the seas were that rough and his life was at risk. Were it me, I’d have called in air support with the sat phone, left the boat to float, and gone back to look for it later. Again, there are lots of ways that one could make this is a viable way to use this boat, but you should have GPS installed in the boat (so you can find it later), radio with backup, sat phones (with a direct number to someone on land who owns a helicopter), tools, spares, first aid, flares, life presever/raft, hydrated food, water, and the list goes on and on...

Anyway, sorry for going all top tier preachy here but it really frustrates me when I see news of people who perish whilst enjoying their passions simply out of lack of proper planning. This day and age, there is no need to go down with the ship...

Saw one of the CSX's at a marina on the intracpastal down in Wilmington nc, it was really nice. The one I saw had the board racks on the gunnels. It had a lot of nice features, especially for running them in the rougher water.

The surf okay, but wakeboard really well. Same hull as the X25 which was awesome for its time.

Hey so this one time, drunk guy puts 19 people on his X45, puts 14 in the bow, drives it like the moron he is and runs over 2 girls with the prop. Court finds MC at fault, never say never!

Total and complete lack of detail on the story should absolutely tell you there’s something way more to this story. In addition to the picture ‘evidence’

Might be the details you are looking at:

                          http://www.dbbwc.com/High-Profile-Ca...nty-Jury.shtml

Yes Mastercraft engineers did say that they never tested the boat stability at people limit and never really engineer this boat from scratch, but just put two boat designs in one. The conclusion according to this article, is whatever is the level of drug in the driver blood this day, even an average Joe, driving the boat unimpaired would have resulted in the same outcome due to the boat design. The trial outcome looks like fair to me. Moron or not this accident was long coming according to the initial design and mastercraft's fault. Even the mastercraft's paid expert had to agree with the plaintiffs on the boat design issue.

I tend to put more responsibility on the individual. I guess since we are going all off topic here...Putting 12 people in the bow is plain negligence on the captain's part. I have owned an X45, and the bow is really big, but not 12 people big. I guess now I understand why I have seen a bow capacity plate and a rest of the boat capacity plate somewhere...but I don't think it is on my G. I tend to agree with MC that the driver had no business throttling the boat when he did not know the whereabouts of all 12 people in his bow. And the beers he drank surely didn't affect his judgement in that regard.

There is a bow capacity sticker by one of the arm rests I think.

Oh yeah, Nautiques have had bow capacity plates since just after the MasterCraft accident. Copies are even in the owner's manuals.
