Yes Mastercraft engineers did say that they never tested the boat stability at people limit and never really engineer this boat from scratch, but just put two boat designs in one. The conclusion according to this article, is whatever is the level of drug in the driver blood this day, even an average Joe, driving the boat unimpaired would have resulted in the same outcome due to the boat design. The trial outcome looks like fair to me. Moron or not this accident was long coming according to the initial design and mastercraft's fault. Even the mastercraft's paid expert had to agree with the plaintiffs on the boat design issue.
I would really love for you to give me an example of any wakeboat, built by any manufacturer, that wouldn’t swamp the bow with 12 people sitting in the bow, and the driver chopping the throttle....... heck, my G could do that with the recommended 4 people in the bow....

I especially love the part that sights the bow ladder holes as an additional reason for a design flaw. They are 1” holes, that are 1” lower than the top of the gunnels...... ya, I’m sure those take on tons of water during normal use.

This case was a primo example of individual stupidity getting redirected to any party that had a bigger wallet. Because ‘Merica

But, we can thank that lawsuit for the passenger distribution stickers that we all have in our boats now.

I think it would have to be 4 fat people and a pretty big wave.
The G is the best I have been in as far as taking water over the bow.

I’m not saying the G dips easy...... that wasn’t the point. I have definitely taken a little water over the bow in my G if there was 3-4 (not fat) people up there (slowing from surf speed with ballast full and some chop on the lake). It is not the best I have ever owned, or been in, but it is pretty good.

My point was that if it had been a G in the hands of that idiot, and there was 12 people in the bow...... the outcome would have been the same.

I've owned an X45 as well. There is no contest between them as far as the ability to dump the nose. A G may not have been able to protect him from the level of stupidity he displayed, but he had no hope in the X45.
