As to what Bug Hunter has just said....I have about 40 hours on my new 220 and have driven a good friends '04 X-Star about just as much as my 220......The surf wake behind a 220 is way better than an X-Star, the handling of a 220 is much better than an X-Star....I loved the X-Star before my 220 and still love the X-Star but it just doesn't compare to a 220...

MC introduced a new rudder in 2005. I've never had the old rudder but hear that a lot of owners are having the rudders replaced. It makes a big difference. We are on a private lake and I feel that the X-Star turns marginally better. It does not drop of plane as easy in a sharp turn.
I agree on the surf wake, the Hydrogate makes a big difference in cleaning that up as well.

turbo mentioned the double up wake on the x star... i thought i remembered reading somewhere that when designing the x, MC's end goal was to design a hull that would throw the ultimate double up... with the sport progressing the way it is, riders are having to take tricks higher and bigger just to get some of them done... if there is any truth to this, then maybe pro riders prefer the x's wake because of it's double up shape/size...
