Wasn't there a post regarding the X30. Did that get deleted?

I wasn't implying you are\were a Troll. Just letting you know that the opinions here will be skewed in favor of Nautique and you'll get opinions skewed in favor of whatever the poster owns over at wakeworld.

x30 wakeboard wake is excellent, and very easy to keep clean down to 17ish. Long transition with a nice lip, and extremely clean. The only downside is it needs a good amount of extra weight to pump it up to G23ish size.

First thing to ever do with an X30 to really put it on par for surf is to add 200-300lbs or lead in the bow, and swap the rear bags to 900s. It goes from “meh”, to “wow”.

Blamey, I tried editing but couldn't so deleted my previous X30/230 post... reread OP's post and realized I got off on tangents since he has same boat I currently have.

I really wanted another Nautique so, using both a LF TC Custom & Rnx LTD Koal Pwr Tail, I surfed an NSS 230 in 50' of water from just driver and pro ballast to having 700# of pax (passengers). W/just driver, wake didn't have enough power to go wireless. However, with 700# of pax, it had enough push to get along okay, a friendly shape w/rounded top, and push further back than the reach of surf rope tied to tower... super long wave. However, it was still kinda mushy from the rooster tail back even though it looked great, and compared to my '16 X30 (w/only 1/2 gas & 110# driver, stock pro ballast, set left mellow @ 10.8) and the demo G21 w/700# crew, it just didn't provide the firmness/push I wanted. Wish I had tried filling a 750# bag on the motor box to mimic lead or 750's (vs 400's) in lockers, sounds like that makes a big difference. Other key reasons I discounted the 230 compared to X30: storage (don't have a lake house yet), interior size & depth, rear flip seat, manual backup switches/buttons. I didn't get to wakeboard behind the 230 but the G21 wakeboard wake was sweet.

Not sure I buy this at all. I’m an awful surfer and have easily gone rope less behind a 230 with just pro ballast. Not sure I’ve ever heard anyone discount the surf wave behind a 230, with or without extra weight. Just take a quick read in this forum and you will se plenty of evidence of people surfing 230’s with little to no extra weight.

No worries. I probably should have titled the thread a little differently. I posed on here because I really want to hear about why people like their 230's and was hoping a few had some direct experience with both. I was afraid posting a this vs that thread on wakeworld would digress quickly into a thread that was not really helpful. Again, I appreciate everybody who has taken the time to post on this thread. Its all been very helpful.

I haven't ridden behind a 230. Hopefully, I can remedy that when it warms up some. Its funny how wave preference differs from person to person. I've had the privilege to surf behind lots of different boats. Some boats that I thought would be great...weren't... and I have had others that I thought wouldn't be great suprise me. But, in reading everybody's opinion on a certain boat, there's always somebody that wasn't impressed. I think you have to ride behind one yourself to figure out if its a good fit. Maybe riding style has something to do with it. Honestly, I have no complaints about my x30. I've got it set up pretty well to do what we want it to do. I like the surf wave. I'm old and don't wakeboard much, but my kids are getting into it more and more and they are happy with it. But, Ive always wanted to order a boat with the options/colors that were my choosing. My situation has changed and owning a MC has become more and more of a hassle lately. Because of this, I don't see myself ordering a MC. I'm really hoping to find something comparable in a 230...

I hear ya, lots of positive talk about them, especially the guy who said he and his buddy find his 230 & his buddy's G23 practically equal. Maybe my impression of the 230 wave was skewed by surfing a G21 right after... I'd still like to try one w/an extra 750.

Surfed a fair bit behind a 230 with 750’s. I will say it likes a 650 bow bag and deeper water but the wave is pretty freaking sweet. Absolutely it’s one of the best surf boats out there when weighted properly.
