This followed me home today. New interior clean 500 hours. Needs buffed and new pin but not decals. Not sure i will keep the tower. Wife likes, I’m not a fan yet. But it grew on me in the mirrors. Original owner and I’ve know the owner since he got new. Marina maintained all its life. No spider cracks that i found so far.
290hp motor which i wanted.
i need to do a little on the trailer. Lights carpet wood replacement.

Is that a '98? Looks very similar to my '98 Ski Nautique.

Wish I had that engine in mine. I have the non-HO 260 HP version in mine.

It is a 98. I won’t be able to run until spring. I’m not sure I’d be able to tell the difference in the 260/290. I really wanted a carb and not the gt40. I will see how runs but i might put an edelbrook on her in the spring. My neighbors is going to help me get the tower off so i can get in the garage tomorrow.

The thing I like most about that engine is that you have a 4,800 max RPM. The non-HO is limited to 4,400.

The difference in rpm is not a “limit”, the bottom end of the HO vs non-HO 351w is equivalent in strength (both can be spun well past their ratings without self destructing). The recommended max rpm is based on performance, the HO breathes better and will make more power if spun faster. The base engine runs out of breath sooner. The performance difference between HO and non-HO is definitely noticeable, 2-3mph on top and more holeshot.

Got the boat in the garage this morning. Super happy with purchase. That said tower is gone (soon to be posted for sale). I will say the Aerial towers are very heavy duty. Really a nice design. Thoughts looks better without the tower?

Love be the master green and zephyr colors. We always wanted a black and zephyr boat. Working on getting seats out for deeper cleaning. I have a couple days over the holidays off.

So you have the new Malibu and this sport now? What is the purpose of the two boats? Keep in different locations?

That trailer looks to be of ‘93-94 vintage FYI. Doesn’t matter much, it’s just older than the boat. Congrats!!!

The trailer is a 98 like the boat. Why two. I might keep this one at the house for when we done go to the lake for the weekend. I bought this to ski and use the Boom for the 4 yo. This will be an ok ski and footing boat.

pulled out all the interior out today. Everything except the bow combing pads. Boats clean and i didn’t feel like contorting my body that much. Pulled the shower out has i found it was leaking. I’ll never use it and one more thing to winterize.

Since it was winterized the battery was laying on floor. Hooked up and dry fired didn’t even have to pump the throttle. Fired right up. Started power washing the carpet with carpet cleaner. Just a couple spot stains. The only thing i found i need to fix is a piece of the carpet is coming up. Order glue on prime this evening.

I need to got the pin striping off. Any advise seems to be a pita. Will be doing a buff test over the weekend.

I find the pin striping comes off pretty easily when warm but is much harder when cold (glue is stronger and strip breaks easily). Leaving the boat in the sun on a warm day makes it a pretty easy job (15 to 20 minutes).

If you don't won't to wait for warm weather I've done it with the 3m decal removal tool. It works but takes time to get it all off.

If you know what to do a heat gun may also work but I've never done it this way.

I loved my old Sport, treated us great for many years. As for the striping, an eraser wheel and a little 3m general purpose adhesive remover and you'll make quick work of it with minimal effort.

Deciding on seadek or keeping the carpet. I wanted to see how the carpet looked after pressure washing. Came home early this evening and did the job. 38 degrees with spot lights. Carpet came out like new. I missed a couple spots because of the dark but will fix by hand. I got fans dehumidifier and heaters going in garage. Going to be 56 tomorrow pulling out in the morning to get air.

My fiberglass guy is getting the boat over the weekend fixing the tower holes and a quarter size nick by the fender on the trailer. After that new cover then lift boat off trailer for trailer repair.

As we all know prestige trailers had their opportunities. Mine isn’t rusting through like others but I do have some surface rust. It will be worked on in the spring when I lift boat onto stands. That said I pulled the bow stop off and the holder. Google correlseal turns rust into black paint while “doing something to the metal”. Then I decided to Rhino line the parts. Wow it came out amazing. Talked to my local Rhino line guy that is going to do the whole trailer in the spring. Also tested on marine would and came out great.

Looking for thoughts. These trailers all seem to rust where the wood screws went into the frame. Then the carpet stays wet causing the rust. I’m thinking of having welded brackets put on the top of the frame then the wood would be off the trailer. Something to separate the wood and carpet from the frame to get airflow.

Seems like a great idea, your definitely right about the wet wood and carpet sitting on the trailer causing the rust there, bad design. Seperarateing would be ideal.
