Trade in Value maximization

Purchased and took delivery of a 17’ GS20. First boat, family love it. We will be going with a G23 next ... with that said, when best value spot for trade in.

We have 100 hours on it.

You'd likely be money ahead to sell the GS20 outright in the spring instead of trading it in. That being said, you might get a better deal on a new boat in the winter.

Thanks depending on hours we put on it next year i am thinking a 19’ or 20’ model but wanting to be aware what buyers of used boats, 2 to 3 years old are hoping to see left on warranty

IMO, warranty isn't a huge thing, especially if there is only a year or so left. I am more concerned with the care and maintenance to include documented regular servicing. My experience when selling/trading a boat, is that you never get what you think you will.

I am looking for a boat that is not beat up when looking at newer used boats. A good detail will go a long ways towards convincing a buyer that it has been well taken care of.

Your 17 has a 500 hour warranty/5 years, right? In 18, that went up to 1000 hours. I think warranty is important, as I think buyers of this type of boat are happy to not have to come up with major expenses on top of the big money they just poured into the boat.

1000 hrs may just convince me to trade in for 19’ ... boat show is coming in couple weeks, might be time start thinking about color combos. We wash and flush after every outing, good detailing be smart once ready to sell. Thanks

Seems like early fall was a god time to trade in, we traded in our 210 in this year in the fall and you can get a good deal on a left over or get a pre order next year boat at a good value.

If you are thinking about a '19, you wont know available colors, equipment, re-designs, etc. until late June or July . Boat shows will be selling 18's.

I think fall and winter would be good times, winter for sure, bad time for the dealer to be sitting on 17’s and I’ve seen a lot of leftovers (all brands) 16’s on onlyinboards!

The way the value of these boats is skyrocketing they’re holding their value so well. Like scary well, I traded my 14 in for 8k cad less then what I payed for it and it almost had 400 hours.
