1994 Sport Nautique Ballast

1994 sport nautique home made ballast system with 4 fat sacks . Great set up . But takes up all the room . Any aftermarket sacks that fit in or under or around places out of the way . . .." anyone been down that path

There just isn't much room to hide water in that boat. A bag in the ski locker would work.

There is also a sack available that can replace the back seat.

If you want to add weight and not take up space then lead is your friend. It is a pricey investment but it's the best way to add weight without taking up space.

Not sure how experienced you are but for Wakeboarding you really don't need and weight to get a good wake from that boat. Wake is great without weight and just gets bigger and bigger as you add weight. Unless you are at the level where you are already doing big inverts, you probably don't even need weight.

For surfing you'll need weight. Get a Nauti-curl or make your own.

Yes that boat needs weight. I had the same boat. After dealing with sacs I got tired of the filling and emptying ordeal and went with Lead Footz. Had 600 lbs of lead in 50 pound plates. Each plate was no more than an inch thick and about the size 8.5 x 11. I stacked four plates under each outside two rear seats. 200 under each two rear seats =400 rear
then put 200 under the bow. The wake is awesome with this lead because it can go further back and in places the sacs cannot. Towing slightly more effort with the extra weight. But worth the ease once your at the lake. Although you are stuck with the weight all day but it's not a bad experience.

Yea lead would b nice but always weighted down . I guess it is what it is . My plan is to get bigger wake to get better I’ve been boarding for cpl years but not much water time due to the kids and lack of other ppl who wanna board . But when I do get on the water I want best experience as possible . Also wake surfing is next on my bucket list . So fat sacks it is . Only been out once with this rig just To test out the ballast system and the boat itself then winterized it . Big shame . Trying to get the shimmy out of it with a few repairs over the winter and get ready for summer. Merry Christmas guys ! Only 5 more. Both till watertime

You mentioned you had an IO but do you have any experience riding behind a real wake boat?

If you've been riding sacked out wakeboats then this doesn't really apply but if your experience is riding an IO the last couple years, I think you'll be plesently supprised at how much you can do with the wake on this boat without any weight.

Lead is a great way to supplement the bags so it's not all bag weight. It mean the boat always has a bit of extra weight.

Id also suggest that you invest in perfect pass if the boat doesn't have it. You are going to progress much quicker with a consistent pull then you will with a big wake.

Yes I’ve done a bit of research on the perfect pass systems expecialy because it’s usuraly a green Horn driving while I ride but I’m thinking it’s a bit out of my budget Atm . Less I can sneak it past the old lady some how . What’s the average price range on a decent set up? Or what’s an affordable supliment ?

Hydrophase and Perfect Pass are the two systems I know of. Both are $1200 new.

Used you can get perfect pass for around $750 for the star gazer (current gps version).

There are older version of perfect pass which may be cheaper.

94 air Nautique any one experimented weighting similar boat down to surf . Been successfully surfing with no rope but huge weight and wake setter and lots of gas any tips out there?
