Anyone want to share early feedback on 2018 G23?

    Curious on a few things.
    1. Steering assist - early impressions, is it worth it? How much does it help? Would you buy it again?
    2. Height of tower - do you like the way it looks? Would someone 6' tall walk underneath without hitting their head?
    3. Any difference in wave at similar settings/speed assuming you had an earlier year G23.

Anyone else have anything I missed?

    Anxiously waiting for my '18.

    1. I didnÂ’t get it because I know how to drive a boat, I have not had any problems maneuvering my last 2 GÂ’s, and expensive options like this donÂ’t hold value for resale.

    2. Tower looks fine, I think a 6Â’ person would not hit their head. I opted to go with JL 8.8s on the tower because wetsounds did not have mounts for the 18 tower yet. I am not 100% sure, but the factory mount locations may not fit 2 pairs of Rev 10Â’s. This is just a guess from eyeballing - I have not actually measured the spacing.

    3. No difference that I see from my 17 G wake but once again I didnÂ’t get the steering assist so the hull should be Identical to my previous 17 G.

Thanks Kporsch! Appreciate the comments. The steering assist is very $$ but I trailer a lot and do a lot of loading at ramps. Thinking about wind and currents (rivers) that the assist might prove useful.

While I don’t have any personal experience with the thruster I did see it in action from the dock at the factory and spoke to the guys that test our boats before they get shipped. It’s amazing how they can maneuver between the slips and the trailer regardless of wind conditions. It’s a very expensive option but we pulled the trigger on it. We skipped the lighting package, design package, and went with 2x8 vs 4x8 speakers to offset most of thruster cost.

Will post hands on results in the spring...

Are people really hitting their heads on the tower of the 2017 and prior G23s? I could certainly see it if you have 2 pair of Rev 10s on the tower. I'm 6ft tall and can stand up straight and walk under the middle of the tower of my GS20 without hitting my head. I have one pair of Rev 10s on the tower in the widest mounting locations and head room has never been a problem for me. I'm surprised that it's an issue with G23s given that the gunwales are much higher on them compared to a GS20.

Yes I had a ‘14 and now have a ‘17 G23. Two pairs of JL 8.8’s. I am 5’ 11” and have hit my head a bunch. Makes me crazy. My guests do the same. Considered taking 2nd pair of cans down..... bought an ‘18 instead. Expensive fix I guess.

Thanks for the comments ST3. Makes sense and good to hear about the thrusters around the dock.

I'm 6'1" and my dealer tried to steer me away from the four JL 8.8s when I ordered my 17 due to my height; I still ordered them, and very happy I did. I have never hit the speakers once, but am conscious of them there, so I guess I'm trained. Now, when the strapless racks are turned in, I can't tell you how many times I have bent down, (while the boat is on the lift-usually)-come back up and whacked my head on one of those. That, my friends, hurts...

My neighbor ordered a 2018 that is sitting snug in the dealer showroom while this nasty weather is crossing the US. I imagine they will deliver it before the end of January. To quote him, "it is "hard loaded" with every conceivable option Nautique could put on it". The stern thruster option will be interesting to try, though I'd never order a new one solely because that option now exists...

I have smacked my head multiple times in my '17. I have 4 factory 8.8's. It's an issue. But I'm a quick learner.. I'm 6'2" if that gives any insight. I can walk up the middle without incident.. But if I'm off by an inch or so I've said things I'm not so proud of.

I think you are in the Seattle area? I have my 2018 in Newport Yacht Basin. Your welcome to look at it.

I don't have steering assist. I've got 4000+ hours driving inboards. Only rarely, in high wind scenarios would I use it and the price was too high to make it worth it for me.

The tower looks great. Makes my 2016 tower look like a toy. 6' person can walk under and I have quad 8.8s.

                    Surf wave is identical.

Put a hat on your head so you forget to duck and walk into the boat from the rear stepping on the seadeck pad on the rear seat. My 5' 6" wife will hit her head. I had quad REV 8 Wetsounds. They raised the height and moved the tower forward. I love it!

That would be cool. I will try to find some time..... otherwise it will off to the boatshow as Rob and Doug from Pacific Nautique have some coming in. Plus I like going to the Boat Show anyway... Lots to see.

Have not used the thruster yet but do not believe its needed.

The extra height in tower is definitely noticeable. I'm 6'4" and I do not hit my head as much on the front of Bimini and also more room on tower speakers.

The wake to me is identical to the 17'
