SkiSafe Insurance - Feedback requested, good and bad

Gang,

Insurance on the 230 is coming due and I'm shopping around. I hear a lot of people talking about SkiSafe here. Getting a policy with an insurance company is usually pretty easy. Claims, on the other hand, can be difficult. Anyone filed a claim with SkiSafe?

Really, any kind of feedback you have would be much appreciated.

I have them. I filed a claim. A bizarre on trailer accident was handled efficiently and in a timely fashion. Very happy with skisafe. Significant damage too. + / -$12000.

I remain a customer and am loyal.

I currently have five policies with them, and I have used them for almost 20 years. No claims, but their service has always been great.

I checked as well after your post and mine was less through Ski Safe . I will switch to Ski Safe when my insurance comes up for renewal in June.

I just switched to Gieco they use Boat US as their carrier. On top of great rates you get free water towing with Towboat US with the policy.

Yea, me too. I just contacted my current insurance agent and notified them that I would not be renewing my policy with them. It's a bummer because I really like my agent and it was convenient to have all of my insurance in one spot, but I just can't justify a bill that's over twice what SkiSafe is quoting.

This past summer, we hit a submerged log and took out the rudder, shaft and prop. Ski safe paid the bill within a week. They were awesome to work with. I haven't got my renewal yet, so fingers crossed on that. I fully recommend skis safe. I have been using them for over 10 years.

This topic came up a few years ago with Ski Safe. I'm a policy holder for many years with Ski Safe. I have not had any claims, but have been happy with their pricing and options. A few years ago, I wanted to change some liability pricing and check insured value. I was talking with an over the phone agent that was super helpful and shared some insight. In a summary, he said history has shown inboard ski boat owners (encompassing wakeboarding, etc) are very cautious, very detailed about the care and maintenance of their boats and have minimal accidents. Thus, it is a very good investment for Ski Safe to insure this type of owner and equipment. He said even with the costs of the newer boats, the payout ratio 'categorically low'.

We do the same within my business. There is a low contract cost for certain equipment expensive equipment that is known for reliability. The low contract cost for many sites equals a large dollar value over time and payouts for a repair / replace are infrequent. We offer the advantage when the pot gets so big, we then provide a discount for all of those involved.

My regular home owners / car insurance group couldn't touch the rates of Ski Safe. Interestingly, Ski Safe would not insure my pontoon boat that was turned into a floating dock (no engine). They said too many issues with that 'group' of vessels.
