The REAL proof is when needing to file a claim, that's what separates the good ones from the bad ones.

I have quoted quite a few companies too and SkiSafe seems to be the best and has seemingly great coverage. I have had boat insurance thru State Farm, BOATUS (now Geico) and have heard some bad reviews since it changed and going with SkiSafe now...have never had a claim tho and of couse that is the only time it matters. I do think I will pay the extra money to NOT have the winter layup since we go out occasionally and in the fine print, if anything happens during that time, you will not be covered. So depending on how you boat, that will be a box you may want to check. Was a difference of roughly $200 extra dollars for me to have no layup.....for me, its worth it since I surf as late as Dec and as early as March....so really only Jan/Feb when I almost never go out. We have a lake with reactor tho so there is a cove where water stays about 70 degrees all winter, so it gives me the option of surfing during cold months if I feel like re-winterizing the boat, only a 45min process for me, so sometimes worth it

Can you shed some lights about what kind of legal consultation is recommended to purchase something basic such as boat insurance, unless you have hard time to read an insurance policy?

I'm with a company called ACE American Ins. Co. (subsidiary of Chubb). I also have an umbrella policy that requires higher liability limits ($500,000). The quote I received from SkiSafe was competitive but only by a few dollars. I choose ACE over SkiSafe because had a local agent that I could ask a ton of questions and I noticed I couldn't claim the entire value of my trailer. SkiSafe was also limiting trailers to $5,000, not sure if they still do that. I've had no claims with ACE but they have been easy to work with through my agent.

Just phenomenal
Every, literally every contact with Ski Safe has been phenomenal. I had a lightening strike in the water near my boat last year. Their adjuster was on top of things right away and I got reimbursed. I just finishing raising my liability and they were there to offer advise and help me select my best option. I ended up using Ski Safe but they suggested I consider my homeowners insurance as an option even though they made no money on that. I cannot recommend them more!
Affiliation I received a sample
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I’m a SkiSafe policy holder . Only issue I have is their deductibles are way out of line compared to their competition. I just reduced the value of my boat coverage in order to get a realistic deductible . Out of the box my deductible was $5000 and $15000 during layup which is extremely high. After dropping the value of my G , I now have $1000 deductible snd $3000 during layup which is more in line with other providers
