Is everyone really that concerned with a mechanical failure so serious that you miss substantial water time? My family has owned 11 MasterCrafts and 5 Nautiques since 1986, and not one went in for warranty work. I do understand the G owners are probably little more leery though, with the prop shaft issue? In my years of working with MC, there were more Bigfoot sightings in our area than boats in for major warranty repair.

Reading through this thread, I think I just have a different mind set. Something catastrophic would have to occur for me to take my boat in to my dealer, as I prefer doing all my own general maintenance. If you prefer to have a dealer change your oil, winterize and store your boat, maybe a solid relationship is much more important.

I do value the relationships I have with a couple of great dealerships...even have been known to sink a few beers with the owners after hours. They give me what I consider to be great pricing, and I in return continue to buy boats. However, 2019 pricing has me thinking our '15 Prostar may be our last, but that's an entirely new discussion.

I suppose if I had a G, I would be too. Not being a wise-guy, as the prop shaft thing would cause legit worry. Now being a wise-guy, there's an easy solution: unscrew the shift knob and replace everything underneath with an X Star

I have had my 2017 G in for petty ,cosmetic and/or non-mechanical warranty work 3 times in the off season or when I'm not using my boat for an extensive periods of time since I purchased the boat. I value my relationship with the dealer to get all these items addressed without down time during peak season. In addtional, if the warranty items are repaired free of charge why wouldn't you let your dealer address and/or replace vs doing them yourself? Im not trying to be negitive, just curious.

I agree 100%. If something under warranty needs to be done, absolutely bring it in. I've just been fortunate that I've never needed anything done to any of our boats. That's one of the reasons we buy Nautiques and MasterCrafts...for the quality. I'm just talking the basics, like an oil change, etc that I do myself.

I do have to correct myself! My brother bought a new 196 back in '07, where the dealer had repair some spider webbing in the fiberglass under warranty.

Old thread but I buy 28% off Msrp. In addition to that I get a whopping 10% off pro shop items .

I have spoken to other dealers while traveling who laughed at that figure but I’m living proof I’ve done it 4 times .

I’m a bit fortunate as I live in Oklahoma but have lake house in Texas so I can shop .

As far as service I will say that in my experience I’ve been treated poorly by dealers I haven’t purchased boats from . A bit of an inconvenience but worth 10-12k to me

I'm in a similar situation in the same states. Which state do you seem to have better luck?
