Is there a definitive guide to creating an excellent surf wave? Why is a great wave so elusive?!?

GUIDE: Weight the heck out of one side or install or buy a boat with surf gates of some sort, or buy wakeshaper of some sort. This stuff is like $250 bucks. https://nauticurl.com/collections/wa...cts/wakesurfer and it really works.
It may not work for the 10% of people that compete. But 90% of people will agree it is a great wave.

We have three kids- same wave and all three have a different opinion on what they like about it. I think we are all spoiled fanatics who think
we are going to bring Honolulu to the lake. Most all these boats (and their waves) are awesome! I would have died to have a Nautique or Mcraft
or any other inboard during my formative years. I really have to take a deep breath when the spitting hairs of wave creation, dimension, push, etc starts being discussed.

I did get a chance to demo the RI237. Honestly it surfs just like the G23. Very similar wave. But I'm a regular rider. The Goofy side is a bit stronger because it is a deep V hull and the boat lists more to the Goofy side due to the prop torque. Now the RI257. That is another beast all together. Much better / stronger wave than anything on the market. But it is a big boat...and I like the G interior better. I wish Nautique would step up their game on the G23 and 25 surf wave. It needs more ballast and a redesigned NSS that can take greater weight. (At about 4,000lbs in the boat people/ballast/fuel the wave washes out.) We can dream cant we?
The 257 is huge! But you are right the G interior is better. I still want to ride the 257 wave though.....looks awesome.
You are right about the too much weight in the G23. I can only run 650's in the rear and have to offset in the bow a lot to keep the NSS not buried. They just need to make the plates taller or something to keep them from being buried I think.Last edited by nohlan_4; 01-30-2018, 12:14 PM.

surferguy, as you can see, questions like yours will illicit passionate responses. It's really not that complicated. The G23 is the best surf boat in the world. Period. There are some legit reasons to pick the G21 though, some of which you named (price, size of crew, etc). My bet is you could buy the 21 and be a happy surfer. Happy shopping!!!
