Ok, decided on 18 G23, what are some options I have to have or avoid?
I'd skip the bow and sundeck filler cushions---they just stay in the garage. I really thought I'd use the sundeck ones, but nope.
I'd also skip things like lighted cupholders, underwater LED, etc., unless you know you'll be using the boat in the dark. Everyone I know who has bought those things rarely, if ever, use them. I might get them if I had a houseboat / dock and we wanted the cool lighting for evening cruises.
I'd definitely get the pocket door at the bow pass thru. It's expensive, but if you ride in cool weather, it's worth it. I have the drop-in version...it squeaks and is a pain to use.
Also if you ride in cool weather, get both the heater and seat heaters. The seat heaters do more for keeping you warm, but both are worthwhile.
For the trailer, upgrading to electric over hydraulic is worth every penny.
Previous boats:
2015 G23
2008 SAN 210
2002 XStar
1995 Sport Nautique
I 100% agree on the EOH on the brakes...that is one of the best possible mods. I dont have it on my 2014 trailer and will be adding a kit over the winter, might as well do it right from the beginning. Heaters are also worth their weight in gold in Spring and Fall, I am surfing thru Thanksgiving and am back out in March....so VERY nice to have to warm up the wetsuit.
Only thing I personally disagree on is the bow filler cushion.....but that depends on the person too. My kids spend most of their time in the bow and love it! I also add lead below it, so its a perfect spot to stash some extra weight.
Lighting...totally depends on use like you said. I would think that would add value for future resale. I have lighted cupholders, very cool at night. I do not have underwater....but I do have a blue LED light above the swim platform, along with white LED lights on side of tower that point back and between those, the are actually perfect for night surfing or ambiance....actually do a much better job of lighting up the wake than underwater from other boats I have been behind at night time.
Get a box anchor too...don't waste money on any other kind
I am looking to order a new boat as well. I am debating on the options. I have underwater and ambient lights checked. However, on my current boat, I have not used them once. I had the underwater lights installed, but never used them.
They are cool in theory, but by not getting them, I can save $2K on the build.
If you want underwater lights, buy the lights yourself and install them yourself or have installed by dealer. You get a much better light than the factory lights at essentially the same price.
A lot of good input here. If you're somewhere with cool springs and falls, then Heater, Heated Seats, Pocket door for sure. A little warmth goes a LONG way on a boat.
I'm all about the music so I selected "YES" to everything there. I know I can have an independent shop install something better for the same money, but with it being OEM it's all under one warranty and I don't have to deal with finger-pointing.
Definitely a bimini. I'll never own another boat without one.
If you're doing a lot of surfing get Surf Select. It isn't "gimicky" at all. It's really handy to be able to make small changes to the wake, speed, stereo volume, etc from the watch.
I like the Phender Pros but we dock-hop a lot. They're really handy for that.
At this point I'd still avoid the GoPro Quick Mounts. They just aren't working very well, at least in the 2017s and 2018s. There are lots of threads here about the problems.
Many of the other options are kinda up to you and how you use the boat. Steering Assist, underwater lights, bow filler cushion, nav maps, battery charger, cover, freshwater flush, etc.
The stowable table is just silly. I've never seen one ordered that way. The Platform ladder also seems silly to me. This is a wake boat, not a runabout.

All good points above . Although not an option from Nautique, I would add, Dome Numbers, Dome Overlays. Not necessary but they definitely add a “””Pop Effect””” to your boat .
I have a set on my G23 and I have had many compliments.

Agree with everything above...EXCEPT....."The platform ladder seems silly to me." Charles...I would bet...and bet a lot of money that the percentage of people that own G's and GS's are really glad to see the ladder as standard or an option on these boats now. And they use them alot. Yeah...it's a wake boat...but it's also a family boat, friend boat...chill by the cliffs boat....and I would NEVER own another boat without the platform ladder. Just my opinion.......
If you order a 2019, I would suggest getting the manual tower, as Nautique has no way to raise or lower the power tower if it gets stuck or locked.
Not sure I agree with that one... that's like saying get manual windows in your car since the power ones might not work. Or we need manual toggle switches for everything cause the screen might not work... I would get the power tower and not look back.

Good point. I highly doubt anyone will lower and raise their tower as often as a car window, so use cycles are pretty low. To that same point, Nautique’s QC is not even remotely close to that of a car manufacturer, so it still concerns me.
My experience with my G23 has been one of extreme unreliability, so I am cautious of losing additional weeks on the water because of a tower failure. I wish Nautique dealers had a loaner program for warranty breakdowns...

There is no manual tower. The power tower is standard on all G boats in 2019.

That is inaccurate. The dealer can order the G-Series with a manual tower option. I’m working with the factory and dealer on getting out of my lemon, so I have been asking every possible question about potential failures and which options may be problematic. If they agree to swap mine for a 2019, I want to be able to make an informed decision.
