Me and my 96 SS want to add some ballast for the kiddos and wife who wants to surf. My question, when I look at WakeMakers type set-ups (complete system) looks to be around $500. What is a fair price for install? I know markets will vary just trying to get an idea so when I tell mamma what it will cost I have flowers in hand. Thanks in advance.

I installed a complete WM ballast systems last summer on my 98' SS. If you can use a drill and can plug in wire harnesses, it's really not that complicated. It's more so time consuming for a clean professional looking install. I would suggest setting a day aside with nothing else planned so you don't feel rushed. My son and I completed the entire install in 3 hrs.
There is a lot of good information and videos on this site and WM site. I watched them over and over until I felt comfortable knowing all the steps. Drilling the first hole in your boat is very nerve racking, but once that one is out of the way it's no big deal.
If I remember correctly, my system including 2 rears and a belly bag was around $1,500 in parts. Feel free to ask any questions.

One other thought especially when it comes to surfing and eliminating the stress of dialing in the wave. A wave shaper is a 100% must and the best money spent. You can build one yourself for about $40 or buy one from many companies from $300-$600.

Check out my thread “2001 Super Air Nautique Ballast Install”. That was around $1,000 in supplies not including bags or hose because I already had that. That does include a some extra impellers and the expensive wire harnesses. Wire harnesses were not required, but it made the install very clean and effortless. I would do the same thing again, well worth it. I split that install between a couple weekends, I had no reason to rush it. Just prepare to have at least $1,500 wrapped up in a proper ballast system that doesn’t give you fits.

gobliemike, also if you need sacs, I have a set of 750's up for sale on this site.
Brit, I 100% agree, no need to rush it. Throw on some tunes, relax and just take your time.
