Need help deciding soon on a brand new G21 or basically new low hour G23. Particularly concerned with storage and the wakesurf wave on G21, should we be?

I have owned both. 2015 g21 (450) 2016 g23 (h6) and put 125 hours on each, here my opinion
They drive the same, but the g23 has more room than 2 feet. It feels like 8
The amount of water that comes in the boat on the 23 is much less.
The amount of gas the h6 consumes is noticeably less. You don't have keep track to see, it is very noticeable.
The 23 has some extra features you can't get on 21, like another cooler.
My 21 surf wake was always steep or steeper.
The ncrs was much more effective on the 21. you could pick nose up or drive it in water with manual buttons.
From day 1 of owning the 21, I always regretted not buying the 23, but owning the 23 I would never even think of a 25 or consider it.
You can put 34 hours on a boat in a long weekend testing it and breaking it in. I had my dealer put 15 on mine before I took it so any little gremlins could be addressed and I would not have to come back for small warranty work.2016 G23

The difference in length between the two boats is actually 18"; I've done the measurements. You gain 12" in the main seating area and 6" in the bow of the G23. I've surfed both and the G23 wave is amazing, no doubt about it. I was in your exact same spot and chose to go with a new G21 because I could spec it exactly the way I wanted it, but I'm very particular. I feel the wave on the G21 is pretty similar to the 23, but maybe I'll feel differently after more time on my 21. I also run with a small crew most of the time, so I certainly didn't need the space of a G23, though I'm sure it would be nice when there's a full crew of people. I've talked and ridden with a pro wake surfer numerous times and he prefers the G21, for what it's worth. Advantages on the '18 are the newer touch screen and taller tower, if that matters to you. Bottom line is you can't go wrong either way. Good luck!

Thank you for the initial feedback. This is a tough decision with a brand new 21 but not exact color specs we want same price as the color we want in a 23 with only 34 hours so they’re basically both brand new just two years apart. I am concerned with the resale a little with the 21 because i feel everyone wants or trades up to the 23. I think we are leaning towards the 2016 23 just for fact i don’t want to run risk of getting the 21 and wishing we had the added space, better wave, etc. keep feedback coming please this is a very helpful forum. Thanks you all

I have had both the G21 (2015) and G23 (2017). We put 150 hours on the G21 in a summer and 125 on the G23. While both are incredible boats, we strongly prefer the G23. With the 21, we were constantly trying to get the wave less steep. The adjustablility seemed to be steep or steeper. We tried w extra fat sacs and 550 lbs of lead.
With the 23, we took the stock setting, added about 280-300 las of lead to offset prop wash and didn’t mess with it much more. It was awesome and we wouldn’t go back to the G21`.
Again, both are awesome boats and you cant beat nautique quality.
If you want more info on surf set ups and what not, let me know.

Welcome to the forum! The G21 can make a great wave, better than most people can surf. This is a G21 wave, and that dude is a heckuva surfer.
I think having the original owner taking a depreciation hit is nice on the G23, so that is great. 34 hours, 340 hours means little to me, personally if the boat was cared for properly. Unfortunately, the next guy will also pay a premium for the low hours, so this G23 might be more than a comparable one with more hours. That low of hours is almost in the neglect range, where issues may pop up because it has been used too little. Are the batteries still OK, etc...On a 2016, probably not a big deal, but worth thinking about.

With a family/kids....who will want to bring friends, you are gonna want the G23. I have 2 daughters who are always wanting to bring friends and its easy to get 8 people out on any given day even tho we are family of 4. I agree, 8 is comfortable number on my 24ft boat. Its possible to have many more, I have had 15 adults at a time, but its not comfortable with everyone moving around, all their gear, 2 coolers, etc. G's have good storage too, 23 is obviously gonna be better. I think you go for the bigger boat or will be looking to upgrade in size next summer. IMO, you will likely lose less on the 23 since they seem to lose the hardest the first 4-5yrs and then slow down for a bit the way the economy is on used boats. I agree tho that you cannot go wrong on either boat, you only live once and kids are only kids for a short period and its worth every penny to have that family time and the memories it makes. I grew up boating and could not wait to share that with my kids and someday will be sharing it with my grandkids.

I would recommend the G23. When taking out young adults it always turns out I go out with 2 more than initially planned. I've never felt cramped with 8 on board. Handling around the dock will be better if only slightly in the 21 but otherwise all advantages go to the 23. I also currently surf the stock wake on my '16 G23 and love it.

Thanks everyone and also for giving great advice to first time NP user. We decided on a new demo 2017 G23 and are pumped to get it on the water. We went back and forth on the 2018 G21 but it did come down to comfort and having the space if we pack on the friends and family. C’mon warm weather!

Good choice !
like somebody up, I surfed behind both of them. Not owned but well inspected. Wave are pretty similar but g23 bigger, less steeper.
found too that ncrs worked better on the 21.
In boat world bigger is kind of always better. When you go taller you never want to go back haha..
but the difference between the used G23 and new G21 have some features more.
im pretty much a thorough guy so picking up all options I need, leave those I don’t want, choose all details and colors is kind of a must for me at these price!
2018 have the taller tower too, the new screen and vertical board racks. (Few other little options) but they are great + .
21ft is plenty enough for my situation too, never more than 6people in the boat. Maybe one time a year 8 but we have enough space, ain’t gonna buy a boat for
friend space lol.
have a good season!
