2011 SAN 210 Team Edition - Feedback Needed

Searching for our family’s first boat. Kids are 14, 6, and 5. We would trailer the boat to lakes near us. I found what seems to be a nice 2011 SAN 210 Team Edition ...1 owner with only 100 hours. It seems like this might be a great boat to start with.

What questions should I be asking about this boat?

What is a reasonable price range?

Where can I find information on the various options available on this boat?

Will this be a good boat for surfing?

If not this boat, then what should I be looking at? (Year, size, and model)

My 2˘ unless you're mechanically inclined I'd be looking for a 2012 or newer. You mention wakesurfing, and yeah the shapers that you strap into the side work, BUT if I were shopping I'd try to go just 1 year newer to have a boat with NSS. Having it fully integrated into the dash is such a nice feature- both for your own use and probably resale. People have found ways to put them on older boats, and if I already owned an 11 i would try to as well, but considering you're just starting your hunt if say it's worth going just one year newer to avoid the hassle. Thanks for your thoughts. That makes a lot of sense. I do expect to do a lot of wake surfing so NSS sounds like a really nice feature. I will keep hunting.

Any advice on a 210 vs 230? Is there a big difference in the wake? How about storage? We won’t have a dock so much of our gear will be out on the boat with us so storage is a concern too.

General consensus is that 210 is better for Wakeboarding and the 230 is better for surfing but both do both well.

The biggest concern for you with a 230 is that it doesn't have a very good slow speed wake. So isn't the best for teaching young kids. Once you add weight and increase speed over 20mph, the wake is excellent.

Thanks for the advice. The kids are all new to wakeboarding, surfing, and skiing but I see them wanting to surf more than anything. Sounds like the 210 would be a great boat for my crew of beginners.

For the way you are going to use the boat I would try to find a 230. Day use and storing all your gear gets cramped on a 210 really quick. I know because I've done it on a 2011 210 and a 23' Malibu. With a 210 you will probably have your cooler sitting in the floor because there really is no better place to put it unless you use a really small cooler (which you won't if you are out on the boat most of the day).

I think that most agree that the 230 of that generation produces a better surf wave than the 210. Both produce a good wakeboard wake. As others have said the 230 may not produce as good slow speed wake as the 210, but I think for your use the other attributes of the 230 far outweigh this. The only other downsides to a 230 is it will cost more and with its extra 2' it may limit where you can store it if length is an issue.

More great points to think about. I do think storage will be important. Especially if we bring friends with us for the day. Other than NSS are there any other “must have” options that I should consider?

I think 210 would be better boat for you, but wouldn't rule out 230. These boats are getting harder to find, It took me over a year to find a 210. Don't rule out traveling if you have to.

Yes I thought the hours seem extremely low. It was a private owner. He said they just didn’t use it and planned to buy a pontoon. He was asking $59k and sold it today. Still searching...undecided on 210 or 239 so looking at both.

Where are best places to search other than Planet Nautique and OnlyInboards.com?
