Discussion with Nautique regarding the replacement for Pebble watch

    Gang,

I went to the boat show this past Saturday and there was a factory rep there from Nautique. I met with him right away to discuss a couple of points:

    - Nautique has been utterly silent on this since Pebble went away. There is no mention of it in any videos or documentation.

    - The 2018 boats with the Surf Select option still integrate with the Pebble watches. It's in the setup menu "Pair with Pebble."

I requested the following from him:

    - Nautique needs to say something. The silence is not doing them any favors. It makes it look like Nautique is not interested in this feature and there are other manufacturers that have this feature. He assured me he would take this feedback to the marketing department. IDK what, if anything, will come from this.

He also told me they are actively looking for a solution and Garmin is their current favorite.

Is there an app for the iWatch? It seems like that would be a really common platform to have avail.

Nope would not function. Watch has to have buttons vs touch screen since the watch is exposed to a water environment

I agree with the OP's point, for sure. On a related note, I bought a couple of these watches on Amazon, worried about not being "hooked up" if one went bad...

I was going to order a couple I just picked up a surf select equipped boat. Do any of the Pebble models work or only certain ones?

I just use the Pebble Classic. As I understand it, the Time adds Ballast Shift to the watch but I can't confirm that.

Both the Pebble Time and Pebble 2 watches have the Ballast Shift option . I have both watches and use them on my 2017 G23

Do you ever use Ballast Shift from the watch? I don't even use it from the console. If we're that out of balance, I just have someone scoot over.

I dont ever use ballast shift on watch . It is sort of a dumb feature on the watch, and you basically would be finished your surfing set before the boat was balanced to your satisfaction after engaging it on your watch while surfing

Yea, that's how I saw it too. That said, we sure use it for pretty much everything else. It's nice to be able to bump the NSS or Speed a bit to see how it changes the wake. And I'm all about having music while I surf. That's a "must have" for me. The volume control from the watch is brilliant.

Towards the end of last season, I really started working on switching sides. It's all about the timing and the Pebble makes this SO much easier. I managed to get up and over as the wake formed on the Starboard side a couple of times. Practice, practice....

Yep much easier to punch a button on the watch to change surf sides while switching over vs yelling to driver or using some sort of hand signal.

I believe that the '17 supports later versions of the Pebble, but the '16 works with the original Pebble (not Pebble Time, etc.).

I have been nagging my dealer and Nautique for 3 months on this topic. After telling my sales guy to go up to S. Murray at the boat show and specifically ask him WTF is Nautique going to do, he said Garmin in 2019.

Why Nautique thinks not answering questions for someone that just ordered a $140k boat escapes me. Piss poor marketing and customer service.

I see a few people repeatedly asking that question on FB and Instagram posts by Nautique Boats and they ignore it.

If we all hounded them on their social media sites, Nautique may provide some answers.
