Well, the Surf Select 2.0 module a bit under $300. This was the module that supports the Pebble and it started with MY2017 boats. I would think the new module wouldn't be that much more, but really won't know until the announcement in a couple of months.

      Gang,

Well November and December have come and gone and still no announcement from Nautique regarding the Garmin. I really don't know what to say here. I asked my dealer and this was the email he got back from Nautique:

Not sure: For the Garmin I have no information about that when or if it will be released. I would continue with Pebble being the watch for now. Best Regards, [REDACTED]| Technical Support Engineer
      Thanks, David

David, Since this production date is end of February, is it coming with the GARMIN Surf Select module or the Pebble?

This is sad. I agree this is doing nothing good for the brand. I think it's a great feature and other manufacturers are getting it done.

Being a Garmin dealer, I was wondering how a small (relatively) company like Nautique could get Garmin on board. It is not easy to facilitate any partnership.

When I met with the area rep and CEO of Nautique at the LA boat show, I shared my experience and asked that question, with all due respect of course. The answer was No Garmin for now.

There has been NOTHING whatsoever from Nautique on this. It isn't mentioned anywhere and every time I've had my dealer ask them, they will not provide any information.

Here we are at the end of January and the brochure for the 2019s is out. No mention of Garmin. It isn't looking promising for Garmin integration for MY2019.

I just submitted my 2019 order and called to verify... No Garmin. With over $3-BILLION in revenue last year, Garmin makes their smaller partners jump through hoops to incorporate into the Garmin design and architecture. With all of the 2020 hype, not one word has been about Garmin for next year either.

There is a video on YouTube posted yesterday with Shaun Murray doing a review of the 2019 G23. In the last minute he shows the new Garmin watch and says to keep quiet about it. But you did not hear that from me. I can't figure out how to post the link on my iPad so hope someone can post link for me. "The boat house group" posted the YouTube video.

This whole "you didn't hear it from me" and "keep quiet about it" is pure nonsense. Shaun Murray works for Nautique. He didn't say anything in that video he wasn't supposed to say.

                  So here it is:

LOL, I was not being serious! I was just looking at colors surfing YouTube and caught that bit at the end. I am sure he had permission to release that info

With my luck, the boat just after mine on the production line will have Garmin capability.

Probably so but for another $750 once you get your boat you can swap out the Surf Select module in the stern locker of your boat with the new Garmin module then purchase the Fenix watch from Garmin . In total it should run you +/- $750 in addition just purchasing a G23 just north of $165,000.00. LOL

Well that depends on what you mean by "luck." My 2019 goes into production on February 21. I'm insisting that it comes with the Pebble module, not the Garmin. It's simple economics unless the Garmin has a LOT more functionality. As it is, I can buy 8 Pebble watches for the price of a single Garmin Fenix 5.

The problem again, is how sketchy Nautique is being about this. Does the Garmin do more than the Pebble did? Does it have to be the Fenix 5 or will it work on a less expensive model?

                          So many unknowns...

I am speculating, but knowing Garmin as I do, I imagine that Nautique is being required to engineer around Garmin’s tech, which may cause other problems for the boat’s control systems. The sketchy behavior may be due to bugs they are finding. Again, speculating.... Regardless, I am looking forward to getting back on the water in a few months.

And POOF. The video has been deleted off of YouTube.

My dealer did get a call into Nautique before it was deleted and confirmed that the Garmin WILL NOT be available for MY2019 boats. It remains Pebble for now.

Probably a big media blast with a watch announcement for 2020 models if an when they change the hull design on the G series
