Nautique got back to me on a couple things.
1. There will be no official support for the older Fenix lineup pre 5 plus due to spotty connection at range. It appears sideload is the only option for the older models. I haven't had a chance to test the connection riding behind the boat.
2. Garmin doesn't support press and hold functions like pebble did this why track switching by holding the volume button doesn't work. If Garmin supports this in the future they will integrate. I've asked if they could give consideration in the next update to add a page after the volume page for track switching.

I'm 0/2 on my Pebble watch purchases off ebay. The first one worked for one day and then I couldn't get it to connect again. The second one right out of the box I tried to reset and it threw off an error code which according to google means that its time to throw the watch away and that watch looked brand new. I'm going to try it one more time.

Pebble Time works great! 2017 G here and I did notice that when I did the upgrade to the JL headunit I lost my ability to skip tracks -- I think it is just not supported in the LINC update for the JL unit because they moved away from the pebble watches with the press-and-hold volume up feature :/

It appears to be working 100% but won't be able to test until we get a nice day on the boat. I assume this will work on the regular 5 and 5x as well but try at your own risk. Possibly could work on earlier fenix models as well and maybe forerunner etc???? TEST AT YOUR OWN RISK as you may brick your watch.

Easy to do,
Connect watch to computer then copy the .prg file that you downloaded and paste in the watches apps folder. The watch shows up as drive E: on my computer so E:/GARMIN/APPS is where you want to paste the file. Let it copy over and then disconnect your watch from the computer. I did a reboot on the watch as well prior to trying it out.
Hope this helps some out and hopefully we can buy "cheap" used watches off eBay and have this app function on them without the fear of losing a $500+ watch in the lake.
