Welcome Bud, looks like you've moved up a few notches on the boat selection
Charles will probably see this, but if you use the @ sign before the nick, he'll get an email notification bump. Like charlesml3.

budmalibu Hold off before buying that Pebble watch off of Ebay. Unless the Pebble watch is downloaded with the Surf Select software there is no way to download it anymore. Your best bet would be to get a Garmin Fenix watch and buy the 3.0 Surf Select module for your 2018 G23. Watch and module would probably cost you +/- $800.00 plus labor to install module.

Agreed. The only real path forward is Surf Select 3.0 module and Garmin. It's unfortunate, but this is where we are.

All, I own a 2016 G23 with the old Surf Select and Pebble watch. I recently futzed with that watch, rendering it dead. Therefore, I went to my local dealer to purchase the Surf Select 3.0 that NautiqueJeff instructed. I installed it myself. It is an easy install. There is a YouTube video on this forum on how to do it yourself. Again, very easy.

I can confirm that this upgrade works exactly as expected. I can confirm that the Surf Select 3.0 will work with a 2016 G23 and will work with the older Garmin 5xPro and newer Garmin Epix Pro Gen2. I am very relieved.

My only small gripe is that the Garmin app does not have a skip forward, backward and pause for song tracks. I sent a note through the Garmin app download page for Surf Select. There is a place for adding comments. I asked for the track change functionality. I got a response directly from Nautique about it. My comments will be forwarded to their developer. Therefore, I ask you all to please also send a separate note to add this functionality to show that it is a needed function by more people than me.

Hope this is helpful to all.

Try holding the bottom left button down for a second. On my Garmin the music that's playing on your phone will pop up and you can advance pause etc. from there while riding. If your surfing/foiling on the first wave the Garmin should be still connected to the phone and within distance. Wakeboarding or foiling on second roller, not so much. Hope this helps.

BYLKN Your suggestion about holding down the left down button on the Garmin watch was brilliant. I just tested your suggestion in the boat. It worked!!! That is a huge hack.

This is why I love this forum. The sharing of great ideas. Thanks BYLKN!

Good to know! I can only imagine the joy you felt sarasetp, "dang it worked"! This would probably be the most important feature to me, volume, and track change, it's all about the music. We currently use gang signs for changes, ha.
If anyone happens to stumble across a compatible used Garmin watch in decent condition, hit me, I am all in on this project.
I'm not really in the mood to spend $500 plus on a watch right now to make this happen. That might change tomorrow. I did a search on Ebay until my eyes bled. I do like the size of the 51mm, bigger is better right? Maybe I should just grab a cheaper beat up one, see how much we like it, then upgrade from there. Stop me if I'm rambling, lol.

Scooter G Yup! Getting access to music while I surf just makes the whole experience worth it.

You can find a good, refurbished Fenix 5XPro on Amazon for around $300, which will come with a 90 day return policy. They work just as well and look brand new.

Can't you control music with an Apple Watch or any other modern smart watch as long as it is connected to the phone that is playing the music? I don't have NSS but change tracks and volume via my apple watch all the time.

That's purdy cool s_kelley2000, that thought crossed my mind, and then I quickly dismissed it. I'll let you know how that goes. I don't have one but the Captain does (my wife). The problem is going to be talking her into getting the watch in the water. I know it's "water-proof", but she drowned one once and that was the end of that routine.

You can definitely change music with the Apple Watch when riding but unfortunately the Apple is more sensitive to water than the Garmin. Every time my Ultra gets wet you have to eject the water out of it for it to work properly again or be user friendly.

BYLKN I never knew the Apple Watch was compatible with the Nautique Surf Select system . Did this just recently happen ?

It's not, just connected to your phone. Can only help with Music, no functionality for any surf/wake function at all.

I do the same (music control, not any boat functions) from my Garmin Vivoactive 5 (and previously Vivoactive 4). My Vivoactive 4 now resides at the bottom of a local lake, but that was from playing football in the water with our kids, not from surfing.
