SN VS SS VS SAN- Suggestions?

    OK Folks,

I owned a 2001 SAN for 2 years before I moved to Germany to work. I am now looking at getting a boat and I want to pay cash. Tired of payments. I am an intermediate wakeboarder, and usually have 3-4 friends in the boat who are in the range from beginner to intermediate.

From the research I have done it looks like I have the following options:

$10,000 - $15,000 91-96 Ski Nautique with a tower or pole. Must add fat sacs.

$17,000-$25,000 95-99 Super Sport Nautique. Alread equipped with tower, or add a tower for 1500. Add a custom Ballast system for another 750.

$30,000-$35,000 01-02 SAN These are hard to find in this price range, but I've seen a few with approx 400 hours.

I was planning on spending no more than 20k.. I wanted to hear your opinions.

    Thanks,

I just picked up a 99 ss with 200 hrs for 20K. It has no tower, but I am putting perfect pass, tower, tower bimini, decent stereo with tower speakers and I will have around 24K. Deals can be had, you just have to be ready to pull the trigger at anytime ( Like November or December!) Good Luck!

Thanks Sstexan.. I am looking at doing about the same thing you did. I found a '96 with only 200 hours. Hes asking 22, but I hope to get him under 20k. I'll let ya know when I'm a Nautique owner again!

I did the same. I found a mint '95 SS with 38 hours for $23K (also it was blue and black, worth the extra $ to me) added PP, depth finder, tower, new ACME 640 prop, and just finished the ballast system. If you have the time to work on the extra projects, this is the way to go. Also, if your patient and pick the add-ons up used, you can save a lot of money. I currently have $26,500 in mine with 150 hours.

Hey Goodfoot, I might have to ask for reference on the ballast. The '96 I am looking at has a brand new tower and tandem trailer. I am going to try to get the dealer to add the PP and have about 24 in to it. Then I only need to do the ballast myself. I figure that is 750-1000.

I went all out and purchased a 2002 SAN. Red Main stripe with Grey secondary... Has all the bells and whistles with only 78 hours! I am stoked!

I'm hoping that the SAN cost more than the 20K you set as your limit

Slightly Mhayes, Only Slightly  Just under 40K. I gave up on the 20K budget and decided to get what I really wanted. After having a 2001 SAN it is hard to downgrade.
