2007 SV211 New Owner Questions

I just purchased a 2007 SV211 TE. I'm having a hard time finding some details/tips on the boat. Thanks in advance for the help! I know there is partial information spread out across multiple threads, but this might be a good jump start for new SV211 owners.

1. Right behind the driver seat there's a spot with two drop down hangers. I think they call it the trash container. What hangs on the hooks? Any pics?

2. What size cooler fits in the spot under the passenger seat?

3. How good or bad is the built in cooler?

4. Do you cover your engine compartment vents when you surf?

5. Do I need to convert to GPS perfect pass?

I have always thought the garbage container wAs a waste of space. I hang a small reusable grocery bag. I have an AO 48 soft cooler for under the passenger seaT. I store
ropes and wet items in the built in cooler. I went with gps perfect pass and it was great until it stopped communicating with the motor. Perfect pass seems fine and it probably a computer issue.

The trash container area is too small to really be used for trash, but it does work perfect for a few spray bottles / cleaners. I keep two spray bottles that I use most often and found a few microfiber cloths that had built in hanging loops on them that I can hang off the hooks to dry. Liter bottles of booze also fit nicely in there...

The built in cooler will melt out quick, but if you load it with a few bags of ice it does usually last the day. Search the forum for a guide on how you can insulate it with spray foam. Its an afternoon project and you can access it by removing the silver trash container insert and making a long hose to attach to a great stuff can and foam up the fiberglass walls. It makes a huge difference in the coolers effectiveness.

We use the built in cooler for drinks mostly and keep a yeti soft sided cooler under the passenger side compartment or in the rear hatch for food and stuff we don't want floating in ice in the built in cooler.

For surfing, best bet is to get a surf gate wedge and you wont have to lean or weight down the boat to the point where you have to tape the vents. Some have had issues when leaning or overly weighting the boat down and water getting in the vents, especially with turning around to pick up a down rider. I haven't had that issue ever since I built a surfgate wedge. Once you master the trick of stopping quick and letting the wake hit the swim platform, then cranking the wheel to the right and tapping the gas for the turn around, the waves aren't really and issue on a pickup.

Thanks for the advice and the boat came with a mission Delta surf gate. Are you leaving the wake shaper on slalom?

I found a thread on insulating the cooler, but the image link doesn’t work and didn’t see any feedback on how well it works. Any experience with this mod?

Radar now has a suck gate out that you attach to surf then remove when done. Very easy to make yourself. Tons of threads to do so on here just search suck gate. Cost to make yourself is about $30.

I think they changed the ballast pumps up in 2007.

Empty beer cans or bottles alway fit in the “trash can”. Buy someone’s long Nautique cooler that comes with new boats , that fits well under port passenger seat. I always kept wet ropes in my under seat cooler. Replace your hard tanks with bags for more capacity. My old sv loved three 540’s. Will need to change prop with weight like that and 5-6 people in boat while riding. I used quick change wake shaper and loved it. Evenly weight boat and use that for a great surf wave. I used the standard Nautique cruise. Most people say it doesn’t work but they don’t know how it operates most of the time ( or the battery in the steering wheel control is dead)

I just bought an 06 SV211 TE and what’s been a learning curve for me is how the mechanics of the ballast system works and what needs to be done for proper maintaince.

This was challenging to me at first too. The thing I had to realize is that they fill up no matter what unless you close the manual ball valves. Each tank has one. There are several posts that discuss various fixes but all take a fair amount of time/cost and with the ease of just closing the ball valves I figure I can live with it. I also get in the habit of making sure they are empty frequently when I don't want them filled.
In regards to maintenance I am not sure besides make sure they are empty if you need to winterize. Changing the cables and manual switches(under the dash) help in making it smoother to function.

Does anyone have one of the long Nautique cooler that comes with new boats for sale? Is this the Igloo cooler?
