    G23 Supercharged or Not

New to the board, ordering a G23 from the factory and I am wondering if others can comment on weather or not the 550 HP supercharged option is worth it. Do you all feel that fuel economy will be better or worse under normal daytime riding activities?

    Thanks

Running at altitude? Like to run super heavy? If no to either of those then I would say not worth it. Also available 91 octane if you fuel up on the lake.

Thanks nohlan, not normally in altitude and not super heavy. Was really wondering if it would allow to run at say 32mph
ski speed it would be a lower RPM and therefore more fuel efficient. Your point is accurate though, any fuel savings is
lost when you have to pay for 91 octane.

Please dont buy a G23 and think it'll be anything close to an actual ski boat....but if your talking about efficiency at higher speed the 550 has a little more room to prop up to get more speed and not really lose as much pulling power down low. But I've never had the desire to go any faster than 30mph in my boat. Plenty fast in a wake barge.

For Nohlan's same topic on skiing; I would not consider a G for skiing. There are more suitable boats for skiing than a G 23, no doubt!

I wonder if we'll ever hear back from that guy that was expecting his G to be a good slalom boat....

G23 with an H6 is doable at 32 for very recreation slaloming. Just like surfing behind a Ski Nautique would be recreational at best. The H6 has plenty of torque to pull a decent sized male up on one ski and get up to speed quickly. At that high speed it chews through gas quickly and RPM's run super high. Not my favorite thing to do but I've done it. I would say if you aren't doing this on a daily basis there's no need to spend the extra on the 550 super charged and have to deal with all the cons that come with that engine when the H6 is the best engine on the market.

What's the upgrade cost to the 550? Probably could afford a 80's 2001 for the amount and have a dedicated slalom boat.

450 is plenty IMO. Agree with GMLIII about buying an old slalom boat. That is what I did.
