How Much Weight is Too Much Weight (G23)

Kinda a newbie ? but at what point does the G23 begin to wash when its heavily weighted? Anyone know this number or approx? I've heard around 1k extra it does but again maybe this is just a speculation # I've heard. The stock wave is plenty for my wife and I as we aren't pro and never will be!

Know most boats seem to have a wash out # if too heavily ballasted or the wave begins to get too steep etc. and less enjoyable to ride only reason I ask.

Doesn't really wash out per say you just get to the point where the NSS surf plate is too buried under the water to have much effect. 1k is nothing I run 1300lbs in the rear and 450lbs of lead in the bow at all times when surfing but then list the boat ever so slightly with stock ballast pumps to make the plate not be buried. Makes an awesome wave.

Excellent, thanks for confirming this as I was told by a couple ppl that the G washes with anything over the 1k addtl mark so good to know. Not that I'll ever weight this much just nice to know its possible.

Depends how you weight it I guess. With 1k total extra in the rear plus all stock filled it might if you don't offset at least 1/3 of that in the bow with lead. But even then I don't think so. Also depends how many ppl are in the boat.

I can't speak for wash out on a G23 but on my 17' G25 I have two extra 750's plumbed in the rear lockers and with 10-14 people on board running about 12.8 with a full load of fuel the wave is absolutely awesome with no washout. Way better than any G23 I've ever been on, it's not even close or debatable....huge, several feet longer. I'd welcome more ballast (at least 1500lbs) to free up my rear storage lockers for what they were designed.
