Hello all for a heavily weighted G23 for wakeboarding and elevation of 1000 ft what would you recommend as the engine - 450 or 550? What is the minimum octane to run the 550?
Many tks

That 450HP, H6 is pretty peppy. I would demo one and can't imagine you need 550 unless you wanna run the biggest prop out there. I am at 800ft elevation with 24ft boat and 5k of ballast and my ZR409 has plenty of pull with torque prop and will still do 40mph at WOT. 450 is gonna have even more power n torque.
Agree. I just came back from a competition in Arizona on lakes at 1700 ft elevation. With full ballast and 600lbs of lead plus six judges and driver the 550 came up harder (almost too hard), but the H6Di was more than sufficient. I would save the money on the engine and gas and get the H6DI 450.
Not sure what you consider to be "heavy", but the 450 should do most of what you need. With that said, if you plan to push the G to its limits, the 550 will handle about 1k lbs more weight than the 450.

Thank you. Reading the history of boats you had it seems that you prefer the 550. Just curious
