    Purchasing 2018 g23 price &a option ?s

Hi all! I'm new to the forum. After my research of different boat models I'm looking at going with a 2018 g23 but have a few question.
In your opinion is the steering assist worth the extra money? Also the price they quote me was 153k without a trailer. Msrp is 187k what are your thoughts on that price? Has upgraded stereo 2 tower speakers...etc. Pretty loaded minus the steering assist.
    thanks

That's about 18% off MSRP. Not a bad price, but if this is an in stock boat and not a special order I would push for 20-23% off the MSRP. But each dealer is different. Good luck.

My personal opinion is that steering assist is not worth the money. These boats are super easy to drive and handle unless its your first inboard. Then there will be a learning curve just cause it steers a bit different than an I/O, but once used to how it handles and moves, it all works to your advantage. I can outmanuever an I/O any day of the week.
There are some situations where the steering assist may be nice, like if really windy. But the $10k pricing is craziness.

There are a few options that aren't very popular. Nobody really uses the sunpad filler cushions. The stowable table is just ridiculous. And I just don't think a ladder has any place on a ski boat. I'd also ditch the built in battery charger but that's just me.

You'll need to evaluate your needs and consider what's important.

Price seems in line with what dealers are getting this year especially if fully loaded. A lot depends on the options sheet and it seems you have most options. What color options as that can be over 5k on a build sheet depending what you choose.

Steer assist isn't necessary to me as I've owned inboards for 10 years but for a newbie it may be good. If it weren't 10k I'd consider it as it would come in handy at large lakes that have on water restaurants etc where wake chop and wind are an issue when docking, but a person can learn to drive an inboard pretty quickly.

Thanks for the replies. I have attached the build sheet. Based on options.... thoughts on being able to get this boat in the 145-147k range whether it's from this dealer or another?

              go here: http://www.seedealercost.com/product...gorySlug/boats

I got about 177K MSRP, 122K dealer cost, although there may be some options missing from the seedealercost.com site - I know things like chromax lettering and exterior metal flake options aren't priced on see dealer cost - but it looks like you don't have any exterior upgrades (except the hull bottom may be an upgrade, I don't remember, but not 10K) Arm yourself with information.

I disagree on the charger. I've owned three G23s now and opted for the charger on my 2018. It's a very useful option. I can fill my ballast with the engine off. We can float after surfing and listen to music with the engine off, come back to our slip and fully charge the batteries over night. I never have a slow crank and don't sweat my battery charge anymore. I would recommend it if you have power in your slip or storage. Of course you can accomplish the same thing with an external charger but it's more of a hassle.

greg I'm guessing what @charles is saying is you can add a nice charger later on for way less then factory installed. I didn't order mine with the charging system as it's around $400.00 and I can get the same or equal to pro mariner for $150. and mount myself and mount where I want it.

I don't particularly like where the factory mounts them anyway, but you will definitely want an on board charger at some point.

The advantage of having the factory install any option is that it's covered under your warranty, the disadvantage is the cost is more than a self installed aftermarket item.

greg, Green and Charles - Every option comes down to personal opinion and value to the buyer. I am looking at the ladder I ordered for my GS22 that came in yesterday, I thought it would be a waste to have one, however, the GS platform sits about 6 inches out of the water without any ballast and only a couple of inches closer with full ballast, the 210 and 230 ski platforms sit at water level when empty, so there's a huge difference. I'm installing one for people that are having trouble getting out of the water easily or are injured (we had that last year). Will it get used? Maybe not, but if it's needed I have it there and ready. Opinions on options will be different for every person that owns a boat.

After looking at the dealer cost website..if that's close that's a crazy markup. When I call around seems that 153k was close to the asking price for most dealers.

It may be close ^^....but these are not car dealers that sell hundreds of units and can spread profit over a ton of units. Boat dealers have a lot of overhead to keep the lights on and have to make some money to stay in business, they have to sit on boats and make the payments and the other 100 things that go into owning/operating a business. I would say most dealers don't make a ton of money, just a decent living for the most part....except for maybe the ones that are in high volume areas. There are of course also the ones that go under cause the cannot sell enough boats to make it.
Not saying just cause they have overhead means they should make a ton, just saying don't get caught up on that number cause it may not be real and there is gonna be a bottom line that no dealer will cross and you are gonna want those guys on your side and here for you when the time for warranty comes so if you piss them off way low balling them, it may backfire on you. They gotta make something and you need to feel like you got a good deal so you are both happy, I would also want the best deal possible. Just my .02

We would not buy a boat without sun pad filler cushions. It’s my wife’s favorite place to be and guess where the kids want to be when she is there, right there with her. There is just not enough sun pad room for us without them. We also operate out of our Lakehouse so don’t have to bring them out if we don’t want to. If we are just going to ride and come back, we leave them in the shed. If we are going for a long day out or cruise, they go with.

Guess my point is that every option truly is personal. We would have never ordered the port rear lean back if the dealer did not pretty much beg us to, we do trade in soften and they like this option. We just never use it. Others will say it’s the best option they have. Order what makes you happy and enjoy the heck out of it.

Yep....I'm with you Cedar....NEVER used the filler cushion on my last 3 Nautiques....Until I got a bigger dog. He loves the bow and having the space to sit comfortably up there...I never take it out now. Three kids and a dog scooting across the lake makin' memories !!! Same with the ladder....I use it EVERY time out when floating in party cove....or the kids are jumping off the dock and need to crawl back up. Personal preference for all options for sure. Battery charger for me too....in every boat I have owned...from my Nautiques to the small Whalers....all factory chargers. Oh....Pooo....just noticed you were talking about sun pad filler cushions....not bow. I thought the boat automatically came with the Sun Pad filler cushions.....and the bow is an option. Either way....I have both and use both.

No worries Kenv, We have both bow and sun pad and the bow stays in the boat as well. Helps avoid disagreements about who gets the Titanic spot. Our friend has the ladder on his 230 and it is pretty useful for sure.
