First day on the water mistakes

I知 sure I知 not the only one to have done this. I normally run the engine up with the boat on the trailer before the first outing of the year to check everything over. However this year, some warm (for Scotland) weather arrived a little earlier than expected, so I was behind on the maintenance. Launched the boat, everything was good, then a couple of minutes later, I hear a high pitch squeal. Immediately I remember I hadn稚 opened the seacock...... Fortunately the engine hadn稚 been running too long, maybe 3 mins max and on idle, amazingly the impeller which has now been replaced looks absolutely fine. Exhaust manifolds were not hot to touch and the exhaust hoses etc all okay. I知 counting myself rather lucky as that could have been an expensive fix.
