Mine was a blue boat 8 years old and there was not a problem with color underneath. Doing this makes the boats look new again

If there is ghosting and polishing does not take it out....you could use a light cutting compound and then polish and that will remove for sure. I removed old registration stickers and then compounded and polished entire boat before re-installing, looks like it just rolling off factory floor. A lot has to do with color, white likely wont show ghosting much, dark colors like black and blue (colors of my boat)....do. At least in my experience it did
