Have a 2017 G23 that already has the little mounts installed on transom and sides just need the insert that attaches to GoPro and locks into that little hole. Thanks in advance for any help!

I didn’t know those were an option on the 2017. Are you referring to the quick mounts for your fenders? Maybe they are the same mount?

Honestly I would not bother with the nautique gopro mount. I have one. It wobbles side to side and you have to use three different joints to get the camera in the right position for surfing. An adhesive gopro mount on the transom works better and you can use a single joint to position the camera. It's much sturdier. I used one for 2 years without a problem on my 2016. And I just put one one my 2018 because of the above reasons with the optional transom mount.
I use suction cup mount for my gopro too, I stick it on gunnel near retractable fender mount so I can tie it in case it were to come unstuck, its a perfect view of surfer. You can get a kit of all the gopro mounts for between 20-30 on amazon...includes suction mount and tons of other pieces that are all universal

Would you say paying the extra couple hundred for GoPro upgrade is a waste then??

I'm only commenting on what I've read here on the forums but yes, it seems like a waste. Only a couple of people have it working. Most cannot get it to pair with the LINC so they end up just using their phone.
On another note, wakesurfing videos from ONE camera angle get pretty boring after a couple of minutes...

I have a 2017 G23 and it did not have the GoPro option linked into the LINC panoray screen option available. Just at Gregggmck states , he just uses the adhesive GoPro transom mount. which works fine. Although my boat does not have the GoPro option linked into the LINC panoray screen option, few if any forum members, who have this option, have had success with it. Most if not all comments on the forum concerning the GoPro linked into the LINC panoray screen have been negitive. They are exceptions but 95% of the comments have been negitive.
As I mentioned I have the Linc gopro option on my 2018 G23. I should add that I am a very experienced computer engineer and I cannot get the gopro to function reliably with the Linc system. I can configure the camera to register with Linc, it shows the camera image in the Linc screen. But after restarting the camera or Linc the connection is lost and I must completely rerun the setup process. So I simply use the camera with the smart remote velcroed to my dash.
The gopro mount is a bit wobbly too so the camera is often not level after someone bumps it when boarding or using the platform. The adhesive gopro mount just works fine. I would love to have the auto start/stop function but like I said it doesn't work...yet. I am hopeful for a software update from Nautique to address this in the future.

I have a 2018 G23 with GoPro mount. Mine does not wobble but I also can’t get either my Hero 4 Silver or Hero 5 to work. It’s a joke and makes me angry that Nautique would put something so unreliable on a boat this $$$. Frigging waste of mo eye so far.
Is there a list of Gopro units that are approved to work? I have one of the small cube Gopro (not sure the model name) and it doesn't work. It's only 2 years old.
