    2014 G21 Surfing

I was wondering if anyone out there has there g21 dialed in for a great surf wake? If so, what weight and settings do you use? I’ve heard it’s a tough boat to get dialed in. Has anyone tried a wake shaper? Just throwing ideas out there. Thanks.

I've got a 15 G21 and run full stock ballast, NSS 0...NCRS 5....speed 11.4. Sometimes I run the belly at 3/4. If you can't surf that wave.....you better get lessons....LOL. Can't see how anyone could call it "tough" to get dialed in. This boat does not need a wake shaper. Pretty simple to just push three buttons to fill, set NSS, NCRS and speed. NOW.....if you want to add additional weight to the boat to try and make the wave bigger and better....then I guess you could call it "dialing it in Muey Grande style....more bags...more people. But overall.....it's not rocket science to get a surfable wave on any G21.

      Check out this thread https://www.planetnautique.com/vb5/f...ng-on-2015-g21

We normally run full ballast in the rear and 20% in the belly. We also place 100lbs lead under port observer seat, 100lbs lead port behind observer seat, and 100lbs lead in the rear locker, NCRS 3 and NSS 3, 11.4 MPH.

On our 2015 G21 we ran full rear, very little if any in the belly. 11.2 mph, NCRS and NSS adjust as needed. 2 and 2 is a good start. Sometimes we'd take a little out of the non-surf side (rear) to get a real clean wave.

The G21 makes an amazing wave without extra ballast or any other gadgets. If you look at a few of my posts from 2 years ago you'll find more details about our set-up.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I should’ve been more specific. There’s no doubt it throws out a big wake, but want to get it longer. We tried emptying some of the the rears and speeding up and that helped a bit. I think it’s hard getting that length being it is a 21 foot boat

After only surfing behind my 230 lately, I had a chance to dial a friend's G21 in a couple days ago. He doesn't normally run extra weight, but I just had to hook him up with an 1100 lb. sack of mine that I keep around in case we're short on people weight in my 230. It took awhile to get it right. We ended up as follows: full stock ballast plus an 1100 lb sack centered right in the middle of the main cabin. Both settings on 1 and speed between 11.2-11.5. The wake was still somewhat steep/short compared to my 230, but still very nice. I moved myself (200 lbs) to the bow while he surfed and he said that made a nice improvement by lengthening the wave. If I owned a G21 with a smaller crew, I'd keep at least 1000 lbs around either in lead or fat sack. The only caveat is steering any G is like steering a brick. Adding weight makes it worse.

Thanks for posting vid. He runs that boat with a LOT of bow rise. (1:30)

On my 2016 G21 with only a driver found an awesome long tall wave with lots of push with about 800 in port locker plus 100% port, 75% starboard and 50-75% bow. Speed is 11.4 to 11.5. I’m 170 and surfing on exacta 4’6 inch board primarily. Without extra weight there I don’t get enough push for that board
