My #1 suspicion at this point! If so, I’m hoping rubber chunks aren’t trapped in water jackets...

Isn't there a strainer before it gets that far?

If it is the impeller that grenaded, it is hard to get too mad at Nautique, I would guess. Those things happen, and it is hard to cast too much blame.

I agree-if this is what the issue is, thus my "sheepishness" Sunday. I'm told that on the PCM engines-that they need to be changed every spring along with de-winterization. On my Cobalt/Volvo, it was every other year. I still don't know if this is it though... My dealer did not tell me this, another dealer did (about the impeller on the PCM)...

And the winner is?... It is a broken belt tensioner... (I obviously didn't lean over the engine to look) The impeller was fine, but we are replacing it as well. Judging from the forum, the tensioners have been quite suspect... All I need now is a broken prop shaft, and I can score the exacta!...

You would think a part as simple as a belt tensioner would last long that 37hrs? Stuff happens but I too would be upset having to be towed back to the dock on a 100 thousand plus dollar boat with less than 40hrs on it.

The thread on this shows there was a service bulletin for a range of serial numbers. Wonder if the range included your boat?

I get stage 1 half a dozen times a year. Most of the time I have just a couple small things in my water strainer. Other times, i just keep driving and it goes away.

These boats have a ton of electronics - just take a breath, and be happy you have a prop

Bummer about the hull delay and the catalyst - not sure how the catalyst made it past the initial test drive at the factory?
Really?? half dozen times a year? To me...that's alot. I've had my G21 three summers now...160 hours..and have never thrown a stage one...knock on wood. Is your lake/river really dirty water? I could see that maybe...if so. But 6 times a year....crazy....

Mine had the fuel line work (securing) done, but nothing with the belt tensioner. Nothing in the document discussed the tensioner. I'm going to visit with the dealer that dispatched the tech to do the fuel line work...

Ironically, today is the one year anniversary of the tour I took of the factory-and when I arrived-Nautique told me the hull had been scrapped. Again, to their credit, they flew me back out to water test this hull on the 13th. It has been a bit of a bumpy road from that point, to a catalyst missing in the port side, to a year later having this tensioner break... Now, did I over-react this past Saturday evening? I'll let you decide...

Well..........Maybe a little but who am I to judge, at the cost of these its understandable. To make you feel a little better, I had a 2017 Malibu 22MXZ that had to go back to the factory because it would porpoise so bad at 30+ it would throw you out of the bow and turns out the factory didn't make the bottom of the hull correct, according to them they forgot to install the "hook" in the transom. Now I'm not a expert on boat building or fiberglass work but needless to say I was upset as well, not to mention the Indmar 410 motor ate about 4 O2 sensors in 100 hours. If it wasn't for my dealer being so accommodating I would have never even considered a Malibu product again.

Just curious..... besides the tow expense, Isn’t everything covered under the warranty? Besides the inconvenience and loss of precious time on the water which is priceless IMO, the warranty should cover all costs.... Correct? I have never owned a new boat before BUT having a strong warranty would make me purchase new as long as things like this are covered.
