Random thoughts from me: A big surf wave is funner even for beginners.

I get tired of hearing about slow speed wakes. If you are ready to jump the wake, you are ready to move up to 19 MPH. You can clean up one side of the wake at a very slow speed by shifting ballast to that side. Most beginner wakeboarders can only jump one way anyway (and a lot of guys who think they are pretty good too). Once they get reasonable at that one side, move to the other side or speed up and let them rip.

I think wakebc made a point which should be re-emphasized. And that is if you aren't going to keep a boat for quite a while it might make sense to start with a better fit for your current needs. As opposed to try to get to the one and done g series.

I agree you should probably be going 19 mph when you are trying to jump the wake. But many boat owners are pretty much occasionally users with many beginners that can be years before they are even jumping. And I would say as a former owner of a 210, and current owner of a g21, that the 210 was much better suited for beginners/intermediate wake boarders.

I can't really speak to surfing...

Shockthis Thanks for the configuration information. But my issue with the SL was a short wave on the regular side / Port side. Your wave picture and settings look to be for the Goofy / Starboard side. I never had a problem on the SL goofy side only the regular (port) side. Thanks.

"Changed some of the settings on the SL, try that out see if it is better, I think the rear port tab was creating to much lift to whole back of the boat.."

        center tab 30-35%
        Port tab 80-85%(instead of 95)
        Speed 11.2-11.4
Port ballast 75% , nose full , starboard full
two 400lbs sacs under the rear seats (maybe 300lbs each)
        pitch 8
        roll 5

A lot of great advice given on this thread. I was in a similar situation a few months back. I have a 6 and 8 year old, both with no experience wakeboarding or surfing. I demo'd the GS24 and G23. I ended up going for the G23 based on resale and that I was planning on holding on to the boat for a longer time. I wasn't interested in upgrading in 2-4 years. I used the Zup board to get the kids comfortable behind the boat and they were able to get to the standing position pretty quickly. The same weekend I was able to progress my 6 year old onto the wakeboard and he did all right for a beginner. Can't wait to get back on the lake and build off of what they're learning. Each person's situation is unique. If you know you'll want a new boat in 2-3 years then you have decisions to make. Otherwise just go for the G23. I felt like I could tame down the wake and it wasn't an issue with the kids. For the Ferrari reference, these boats are all sports cars. If budget isn't an issue, why not get the best sports car out there?

Thanks for all the advise! I demoed the G23 last week and it was awesome, wake was fine for beginners with the right settings. We were able to make it nice and easy.

Plus the regular (not kids) wake had a nice lip to it that gives you a boost to airs that I liked.

Nothing beats the fit and finish of Nautique.

Deposit down on a 2019. It’ll be here in August. )

70% belly, 50% in each rear tank, 400 lbs lead, 4 people in boat, full tank of gas, 11.5 mph. She loves it and sheÂ’s 9. Second season surfing...
