    Gs22 surf wake set up

Bought a gs22 last year still struggling with a wake I like I have stock ballast plus lead bags to move around had 12 people in boat didn’t use much ballast I don’t think the boat would even pull a surfer at 11mph with ballast full and 12 people adjust nss and ncrs don’t see much difference in wake really washy on top too not impressed at all

Somethings not right with your boat or somethings not right with this post. 12 people and ballast full is absolutely not a problem for the GS22.

This was taken from a thread on Ball of Spray concerning what appears to be lack of power at times when more power is needed. This may be occurring when loaded with full ballast and many passengers. Especially on new models with the 6.2. This may be sorted out with updates in the future. Also, It may explain why on random occasions the speed control seems to surge when under extreme loads according to some. Or in your case an inability to get on plane. Just mere speculation.

"Mastercraft and Malibu have both in the past few years had issues with cooling. As these engines get bigger and more powerful, they become more difficult to cool. The software that is built into the E-Controls ECU will do what it needs to do to protect the engine, just like the ECU in your car does. That means that if the temperature gets a bit high, there is a knock, coolant flow is low, oil pressure anomalies, etc, the ECU will do what it needs to in order to protect the engine. Just like in your car, that means the ECU will reduce the power output of the engine 10-20% until a certain amount of time has passed without any anomalies detected. It will do this WITHOUT showing any check engine light or throwing any codes. This happens without you ever knowing."

Talked to a buddy who has a 2018 G25. He had a similar problem and it ended up being his GPS puck. He had his dealer take one off a boat at the dealership and he put it on his and problem solved. Simply pop the puck off the the deck and snap new one in its place.

I have been having a problem with my 18 GS22 since delivery last year. Finally had the mechanic come out and find that the NSS was inoperative. It didn't show up anywhere that it wasn't working, until you logged in as the dealer. The dealer code is 9191, and you look at the page that shows the status of all items throughout your boat. My NSS showed up red, which tipped me off to really push the maintenance guy. Needless to say, they came and picked it up and replaced the system. Works like a champ now. Looking at Wakemakers to add some additional ballast to sharpen the wake, but night and day from before. Possibly your issue as well?

Same here. It was very slight changes though. Try to login to diagnostics and see if it shows up as red. Secondarily, see how much it sticks out at the different levels by looking/feeling the plate come out.. This is the first time I have thought... wth was Nautique thinking, when the NSS setting of 0 is at the greatest level, and 5 is at minimum level. We are still working to dial it in, but have found NSS setting of 0-1 and NCRS setting of 5 to give best wake.
