    Water Ski Racks

Does anyone hvae water ski racks that are built in to the side of thier SN? I was looking at the brochure for my 93 SN and I noticed one of the options available was a ski rack that was mounted along the sides for several skis. This would be a great feature since I do not want to put a tower on. Any thoughts on what they were talking about and how I can go about getting one?

    RE: Water Ski Racks

I had one in my '99 SN. They folded out of the way when not in use. However, I stopped using them because when the handle would shoot out of someone's hands, the rope would occasionally recoil in that spot and toss the ski out of the boat. Now these were the ones mounted IN the boat on the side behind the driver. NOT the ones that you see mounted on top of the side rail.

my ski's, w/ double high wraps never seemed to fit right, or would only fit 1 ski upside down. If you have the net bag...it will be in the way of that too. seemed more of a hassle than they were a benefit for our routine. Maybe useful for keeping "kids" skis or a set of doubles out of the way.

I ordered them on my 206, they work well for me, will hold skis or even a kneeboard, I went back to open toe last season, not sure if the second boot would be a problem. They do not fold but are removable.

That looks like a much better setup than the ones I had. Nice looking boat Quinner!

I have the same racks as Quinner on my 2005 Ski 196. My dealer installed them before I took delivery of the boat. They will hold two skis with double high-wrap bindings without any problem. However, you sometimes have to move the upper ski a bit to get the lower one out of the rack. Overall, I like that racks as they keep the skiis from moving around on the floor during acceleration and turns.

Quinner's are not the same as on my 93 or 95. Those look much nicer and are spaced better than earlier offerings.

I have them on my '92 SN. They work ok for shorter ski pairs, but my slalom ski w/ double boots doesn't work well at all. That's not because of the rack but because there's not enough length under the side rail of the boat.

Quinner -- Where did you purchase those ski racks? They look pretty slick to me.

Included them when I ordered the boat, I assume they were factory installed. Should be able to get them from your dealer. Check an 05' brochure, they are shown as an option there.

Having just put the deposit down for a 206 Here in Australia can someone please tell me if my 69inch Obrein slalom will fit in the rear trunk or do I need to get the racks?
                        Thanks Steve

                          Spud,
I believe the trunk on the 196 and 206 are the same size. With that being said, I can just barely get my 66" HO slalom ski into the trunk of my 196, so I would say you will most definately NOT be able to get a 69" ski into the trunk of your new boat.
