    SM,
I had a 2013 LSV and upgraded to a 2016 LSV and recently upgraded to a 2018 G23 and I’m here to tell you that there is no comparison between the 2016 LSV and the 2018 G23 surf wave. I’m going to leave the 2013 LSV wave out of the discussion because it’s not even a relevant comparison. I’m not sure what you’re trying to accomplish with your research??

I would have to say that your "pro" dealer didn't know what he was doing. Like everyone has said before the G wave is a lot steeper than a surfgate wave and has a much more defined lip so it could give the perception of being shorter. The push is unmatched though, I can ride my wave with my board 1/2 buried in the curl no issues at all. Try again with some of the settings in this thread and you will be impressed. The only boat giving you a longer wave is going to be a RI257.

Have you ever driven a Malibu wave on a 2018? I was on a 21 VLX and a Axis A24. Same day, about a month ago. I can not say that my G wave was directly better! The push - my feeling - was even more exciting at Malibu . But we have to be honest : The locker were full of ballast!!! No space left. The engine annoying loud. Design, I love my G! I do not want to swap. But the wave ... very interesting... I was surprised.

You might also want to try the settings in this thread. Bcause yes I have ridden many boats and the malibu waves are always softer and much less lip.

Thanks again, all, for your input. I appreciate it.

Cincy, what am I trying to accomplish? I want to buy a new boat but don't want to give up my awesome wave. I would shell out for a G today if my experience had been better. So I'm looking for as many objective opinions as I can get. And evidence. I posted my wave, no shame. I asked G's to do the same. Got a couple, but then someone shut that down when they said you can't tell anything from a picture. Whatever. The wave says it all.

I keep hearing former Malibu owners saying there's no comparison. Still no evidence. I will compare mine to anybody's any day of the week. And I'm certainly not loyal to Malibu. I want someone to blow me out of the water and humble me. Just haven't seen it yet.

Nohlan, good point about the RI257. Super long wave with push way back. Just flat and boring in my opinion.

I'm keeping my eyes open for G's on my lake. Will try to make some friends.

I keep about 400 lbs in the extra ballast bag that is in port side rear locker all the time. Then fill the factory ballast full. Even at 12 mph the wave steep and not long. I usually end up removing ballast from both factory rear bags to about 25% and wave gets longer. Works great for the kids and smaller riders, they can get pretty far back. I just want a longer wave thats not so perpendicular to the boat. Any suggestions?
Whitetail, did you ever get yours dialed? You started this thread, then I stole it from you. I'm curious as to how your journey has progressed.

Crap, I keep forgetting to pull up my 2018 LSV year pics and videos for you. Remind me tonight. Definitely a big wave but I would still choose the G every time.

The RI257 was boring to you? That is very odd coming from a Malibu guy yourself. The RI257 probably wasn't setup to your liking then as it is far from flat. I would argue that malibu by nature has the flattest wave just because of how the surfgate works. How much wedge do you run on your LSV? You must have it at maxmium all the time to get any kind of steepness out of it that would make you say a G wave is flat haha. They are far from flat.

You are asking about surf waves on a Nuatique forum. I think one could guess how the responses will sway. : ) However, I feel I am being honest when I say we demoed a lot of boats last year, and the G wave was the best, and continues to grow on us as the more we ride it. Really, that is all you can do - everything else is subjective, biased and opinionated.

I know Wakemakers switched from Malibu to Nautique this year. If you talk to the people there they are pretty happy with it.

Here goes...I apologize if you feel that I killed the thread by saying pics are useless. Malibu waves are generally more sloping, which many riders really like. It can be a matter of what you have grown used to. I am sure if you made the switch, you would grow to like your G wave, but you would need to learn to surf it differently. It does not surf like a surfgate boat for sure. I am also sure if you got a new bu, you would love it as well, it is just what you get used to.

Here is a 6'9" guy sitting on a surfboard. Stock ballast, no lead. 4 persons in the boat. Storage compartments 3 feet deep full of air and life vests, no bags visible.

Literally bang on, ALL Malibus ive ridden are soft with basically no lip, it just rolls over. sure super clean and good for surface tricks on a skim and beginner friendly.
The G isn't for everyone it is steeper, but its got amazing push and the LIP, is FIRM. That's the biggest difference ive learned from my 230 wave is the firmness of the lip, I just rode my soulcraft for the first time last night behind my G and I was getting more pop than my 230 and I was rusty as ****.

As for the ri257 being flat and boring that just seems ridiculous, lol Ive never ridden one but theres just no way its flat. I think your assuming the goofy side is flat like the older enzo boats that could only produce a good Port wave.

Ive heard the Malibu M235 has a firmer lip than any other Malibu by far and that was a main area they wanted to address in designing it, ive never ridden one though.

Like Nolan said his G has good push and allows him to go back so far that he can bury the back half of his board in the wave curl which is my second sweet spot on my wave. I like the fact that I can go that far back on my wave. I do although have 750 lbs of shot bags in bow and mid section on top of stock ballast.

OK, boring was a strong word. Apologies. How could I get bored surfing? But I had a hard time getting any air. It seemed low and lipless to me. Video below.

I found the M235 too steep, tall and short. I like steep but it was too much for me.

Tallredrider, I like your wave, looks clean.

Nohlan, I run about 3/4 wedge, 3400 lbs extra ballast, driver and dog. Yes it is a pain to set up, yes my boat is full of ballast bags. Yes it is what I've gotten used to. 6th year in that boat.

Surfnjosh, which Soulcraft did you get? I've been riding the Voodoo for a year and love it. Thinking about getting another model.

                                I agree.

And SM, you look like a decent surfer so you will love the G wave. The push and pop are unreal.
