Need some feedback on 2018 wakes - Supra SL - Xstar

I need some help from people who have ridden these boats. I usually ride my 17 G23 slammed love the wake in my mind nothing better but the dealership and service leaves me wanting to make a change. Wake board wake is really what I care about.

    Looking hard at both
    Supra SL 575 Engine
    Xstar 7.4 engine

Size, shape, good lip at top? Would love to get out and ride one but my dealership only carries the small engines in these boats.

Well I ride a SL and only have the 440, I have ridden g23s . The Sl wake is awesome , I ran with 4000 lbs and it was huge, good big transition, firm lip that doesn't curl over, ride it at 22mph . I love it as much as a g23 and the surf wake is better in my opinion.

I’m assuming if you are running that much weight, you are at a pro level. I’d think a demo would be mandatory......

anyway...... I have an 18 XStar, but I’m not going to be able to tell you anything about riding it that heavy. I demoed the SL as well, but can’t tell you anything on that one either. I wakeboarded both boats stock. Nothing more.

you should just go demo them, and add as much weight as the Little motor will handle.....

Nah, not trying to debate if you need it weighted that much or not. I don’t get it, but that doesn’t mean I should dictate how you ride! Whatever makes you happy!

wish I could help, but like I said, I only demoed the SL on stock ballast and I only ride my Star on stock ballast, and the Star is already too big for me.

I hear you on the regression!! 33 years old here and just keep trying to fill the trick bag every year to where it once was.

I agree to ride the boat the way you want to ride it. To each his own and I'd be very interested in riding a wake of the size just for the fun of it. But I will say this about what I've changed for myself this summer. Previously I ran 23.5 MPH at 70 feet, full ballast. I recently changed to 22 MPH at 65 feet, full ballast. It's amazing how much softer the landings (and falls/impacts) are. My riding has improved. My hang-time is about the same but I find myself more willing to try new things because the impact is that much less.

I added a toeside backroll to revert this weekend. First time sticking a new trick in years.

I am in my 30's and dont really try for progression, every year I am just hoping for less regression.
For those who want to see my boat there are a bunch of shots of the wake in Dowdys video last year at superior. We were running about 7000.

I would take a close look at the Xstar. The wake on that has a super long transition so it is very easy on the knees which is one of my biggest draws to it as I get older. It still has a great kick off the top of the wake too. The transition is so long it takes some getting used to - never ridden a wake like it
