    2008 Nautique 206 Surf Setup

    Hello,

We have a 08 Air Nautique 206. We have surfed behind it the last 2 years. My wife can surf it very well and she is right at 120#'s. She can go probably 15 ft back from the platform. We typically have a 350#'s in the back hatch on the surf side, 750 #'s in front of back seat, and 350# in the bow. We typically have a 180 # driver and a 200-300 pounds of flesh in the surf rear corner. This setup is great for her but not for me. I weigh around 180 and it is very hard to go more than 7-8 from the back of the boat without losing push. We also use the mission delta. Any suggestions? More weight? Different location for the weight?

You are asking a lot from a dedicated ski boat maybe its time to trade up ? I recommend a second generation 210.

I agree with this recommendation, the 2nd gen 210's are really awesome boats. It may be time to start thinking upgrade if surfing is in the works.

I have a 206 too. We have surfed it without a gate. Is it great, no? But the boat is paid for and I'm not trading up. You are definitely not going to get what other boats do for wave length and push. However, you can try moving your weight around a bit. Have you played with the gate position?

We sacked ours with a 700 on the side, both tanks full and people on the same side of the boat as the sack. Works well for our needs. I'm 140# and my uncle is 180# plus.

Just curious, do you have a photo of where you put your gate in case I ever purchase one? Do you still have your tanks in the bag or do you just use sacks?

Hello, I assume we will purchase a 210 in the coming years. My wife and I are still slalom skier's first.

Skidave, I totally understand that the wave will not be great. I have moved the gate a few times. The best setup for the gate so far is where I flip the mission delta around and the plate that sticks out is probably 12" inches from the rear. It is also as far down in the water as possible. The top of the delta is just sticking out of the water when idling. I currently do not have a photo of this. I should be on the water tomorrow and if I remember I will snap a photo. We do not have any hard tanks. They are all sacs.
