    V Drive Ski Pylon Mounting

Has anyone installed one of the Ski Pylon kits in a V drive? I am considering a SV 211 that doesn't have one. I am a pretty handy guy but was wondering how involved it might be. Hoping you wouldn't have to pull an engine or anything like that to fit the frame in. I asked Nautique parts about it and they told me they have never installed one. Tried to attached the link but not sure it works. It is Item NO. A-16-1119 SKI PYLON MOUNT 211 KIT on their site.

Have you tried talking to skidim? They seemed to be more responsive with customer service

They don't really sell that kind of thing that I can see on their site.

Have you had a change to see how they are installed in person on a SV211 if not I can post a couple pics. Does not look like you would need to pull the motor or anything crazy just the side partitions so you have access to the bottom of the haul where the aluminum frame rails will mount.

If you are putting one in, I would consider this one. The stationary one really isn't that obtrusive but why not do it the right way. Also, it is considerably cheaper.
Last time I check with the guy in the post he still had one.

I saw that one....it doesn’t include the frame needed. I don’t believe the boat I am looking at even has the frame. It’s the most basic 211 I have ever seen.
Shawn I would be interested in the pictures you have.

How could a 211 not have a pylon as a crossover boat? Does it have a tower? Does it have a notch out of the hatch where the pylon goes?

It is not too shocking to omit the pylon on a v-drive. Lots of people pull everything from the tower, even slalom and pair ski. The tower help you out of the hole. Only real issue is competition, but if you are using a v-drive, you are not competing.

I used the tower 95% of the time for all towing. Tubes, ski, board, surf, etc... the only times I use the pylon is for slalom on glass, otherwise, tower is fine.

@MTRBTR did you ever install a pylon frame? I'm in the same boat (no pun intended) and have a 2004 SAN (Signature) that came without any of the support structure necessary.

Or does anyone have pics of how their factory pylon frame is mounted on a V-drive boat? Thanks.

I did not end up buying that boat. So I am no help.

This is a 211 with the pylon in place. Honestly, it's a pretty basic install. There isn't too much there. Hole in the fibreglass and a u-bolt on the lower aluminum structure.

I believe that with out the pylon the aluminum structure is not there either. If you look at NP website where they sell it the aluminum structure comes with it. That is more what is in question if it would fit in there or not. Looking at mine I think you could get it in ok though.

Good Point! I can look tonight, as everything is apart like the pictures show, but I believe everything on the support structure is bolted in.

It would be awesome if someone with a 2004-era 210 could post some photos showing their pylon mounts. The 210 has a different mounting frame compared to the 211.

I don;t have a picture of my 2005 210, but i think i can get one Wednesday. It looks pretty much the same as what Geoff Posted. If you look through some of the reversible pump install threads I know there are a few pics of a 210 Pylon mount in there. that's where they placed the pumps.
